Ah, even better if you want to go to museums on the cheap: visit London! ;D ;D ;D
Ken Livingstone has made all the public museum entrances free (isn't it great?)!
Unfortunately, though, he is raising the cost of public transport by a lot of money ,but it is still cheaper than in a lot of places in the UK The over 60's get free public transport passes and so do kids up to 10 years old.
Sometimes I think that if I can manage to pay this darn mortgage I shall be able to live with VERY LITTLE here in the Smoke!
CaterinaFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
for anyone going to, or near manchester, the musuem of science and industry is free, and a fantastic day out.0

;D
i use old junk mail envelopes for school things too.
When my kids were younger and I had to send their dinner money in an envelope we were encouraged by the school to use junk mail envelopes to send the money in as its good for the environment and money saving too. I thought it was a good idea.0 -
Make your own solid floor dusting mop.
Cut up old clothes and sheets etc into 12 inch squares.
Arrange them in a pile so the corners are opposite every layer. So two layers look like an eight pointed flower. When you have a fair wad nail through the middle onto the end of an old wooden broom stale. When my Grandmother used to make hers she would select the colours of the fabric so they co-ordinated and looked nice. I remember she used to have a pink 'n' white one and a tangerine 'n' yellow one.
To make a smaller duster for sills and pictures you could use a plastic wand that comes with filled balloons at the fair and weave the squares through the end.Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0 -

I didn't realise I was being moneysaving at the time but both my girls have the same initals. It means clothes which are passed down dont have to be re labelled for school ;D
I only put family surname on our school clothing labels. My eldest is now 18 and does not need - child 3 is aged 8 and I still use the original labels we had made - I cut them off clothes before donating them to charity shop or bin. One label suited all - male and female. How tight is that?!0 -
That's not tight, just common sense. The larger the volume of tags ordered the cheeper they are. I got 200 when my fist of three went to school. The youngest goes after Christmas and I've plenty left. (I also cut off the labels before throwing away/sneding to charity)Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0
