Next time some bright SW suggests that you should not leave the babies with their mums unsupervised, ask for a Carer's Assessment for yourself to be carried out immediately. Actually you would be perfectly within your rights to ask for this anyway, and it might (ha!) mean that some structured 'respite care' is planned for you.

The health visitors are saying that I should NOT be leaving the girls with the babies unattended at all!!

Mooloo, have they said why? If not, have you demanded an explanation? Do they believe the babies are at risk? In your shoes, I would be wanting answers to this questions immediately. It sounds worrying.

The health visitors are saying that the girls cannot cope, but the SW are saying that they can. The health visitors have taken the view that because BBJ was on the register, that the other baby has to be treated the same too. We have re-itterated that that is not the case. I shall have to see what comes of things on the next meeting.
Today BBJ is unwell. He was sick last night, and has a high temperature today, so we had to take him to the doctors. He has tonsilitus so is now on antibiotics.
I had an extortionately high fuel bill, at over £1,000 today, and when I read the meters and worked it out, we have used probably another £600!! Panic. Thats my savings gone, as well as all my bank account!! The end of my sitting back and letting the kids have the garage, and all the friends around, the twins having the heating up when ever I am not looking, and my towel rail in the shower room is OFF!!
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Oh my God! thats around £15 a day on gas and electric.!! Eekkkkkkkk:eek:
I cant believe that I didnt read the meters as I had planned. That I have let the bills run away with me!! Now that we are on benifits I am panicing. We cannot sustain that on our money.
I am going to have to turn the heating off never mind down! (But not while BBJ is ill I suppose.) The thermostat is going to have to be reduced by more than one degree me thinks!. The various Xbox'es etc are going to have to be limited use too. I will have to think about watching TV in the main room and not my bedroom, and the kids will have to start to watch what I am watching!!
They have been spoiled too much. I cannot believe how different the bills are here then in my last house. (Even though it was a spring/summer,).
Time to go and see what to cook for tea tonight. Cant leave it up to the twins today, as they have a limited repertoir in the kitchen!.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Can I ask what BBJ is? I hope you get things sorted soon, babies, family, finances. Keep strong.

But this makes no sense. The twins were left alone with the babies when you were working, so why have the HV's changed their attitude ?
Sorry to read about the fuel bill, it's pretty horrendous but at least your have your savings to cover it and you can now keep an eagle eye on how much is being used each day so you won't be hit with an unexpected bill again.

I've always understood it as Baby Boy J. If I'm wrong then much of the thread has made no sense ... :rotfl:

BTW, I misread your post about who was saying the babies shouldn't be left with their mothers. However that doesn't affect my advice: WHOEVER says that they can't be left needs to be asked to support you in getting a Carer's Assessment, via Adult Social Services. This isn't about what the babies need, it's about what YOU need if you're expected to be either their or your DDs' carer in any way.

And does that mean that if one daughter goes out, she can't take her baby with her?

Yes BBJ means Baby Boy J. and BGP means baby girl P. Try not to use their names so needed a differentiation from the babies!!.
I shall be speaking to the Social services again and I will be putting what I want to request/ask in writing as well.
If I am expected to be a carer for them/or the babies, then I am going to have to shout for help financially.
Re the bills... I am trying to stop the palpitations!! But as someone has said, I at least had some savings to be swallowed up!!

Hi social services can help with the bills as they are involved ask them. Do you also know that they can help with repairs ie you washing machine dryer ect. I helped my mum to get hers repaired. The case manager for my brother ie social worker didnt know eaither.
Have you had a a community care grant. the twins may be able to claim one each. Try the utilities trust funds to get help with bills..
If the social services think that the twins need care and support why have they not pushed through dla, .

Good points!! I think its time I stopped being pushed around and was given the support that was supposed to be coming my way!. Didnt know that I have any access to that sort of help! I will definately shout louder now!!
    Thanks for bringing this up.
