Hiya
Just in case you missed the post earlier, there are two more sites to have a look at:
http://www.changepeople.co.uk/
http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/Publications...ance/DH_093378
I know I've said it before, but because your situation is complicated (!) you fall between a rock and a hard place within the system.
Is there a law centre near you that could help? I should think now you are no longer working that you may qualify for legal aid. Failing that both twins definitely will. The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
My problem is that if twin2 goes into the care system willingly, then it will mean a short fall of our income pool of £600 a month, £400 that is paid for her share of the rent costs, and £50 a week that comes out of her money into the shopping/fuel/water/rates etc bills
I do understand how worrying the money angle must be. I'm sure in your heart you know that if twin2 and her child can be supported towards living a happy and fulfilled life by being helped in a residential setting the financial problems have to take second place......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Mooloo you remain a major inspiration to me!Still praying for you.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Mooloo have just read back-and cannot believe what the Health Visitors said to you. I may have mentioned before that I am a Health Visitor with 21 years experience? How dare they say that to you. The only time they could state this,is if there has been a multi disciplinary case conference where this was agreed with all parties. The only time I can remember this happening was when a family was desperate to stop a care order being put in place or someone removed into local authority care. And as someone else on here said-then the adult/s in question became designated carers and got financial support and back up to make it feasible (often parents have to give up work or go part time to do this and often can't manage otherwise.)I would love to see any one of those HV's or SW's do a tenth of what you do and survive-without going insane! It makes my blood boil that in this country we don't value and care for the many thousands of carers that give up so much to care for others, often with no financial or practical help.If you had a nervous breakdown, who would keep all the Mooloo household balls in the air then? And why can't they put the preventative care in now to help prevent you from getiing to some desperate place?Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

You said you were worried about twin2 going into some kind of 'care' voluntarily and the effect this would have one your income. I'm guessing you're talking about some kind of supported accommodation that would help her learn how to look after herself and babe, with a view to independent living. However, SOME of these places might well give an entitlement to Dual Housing Benefit - at least it would if she was already in her own tenancy.
Don't discount the possibility anyway: for someone on their own, if the initial placement is short term rather than long term, then it makes no sense to give up a secure tenancy and have nowhere to return to afterwards, so if the person was getting HB before going into this setting, it will continue to be paid, as will any agreed fees / rent / licence for the supported accommodation.
I admit I've usually come across this when someone is either in prison short-term or going into detox for addiction issues, but I don't think it is limited to that. Perhaps the 'professionals' will say if I've got this completely wrong!
But also, I think you should cross that bridge when it comes. Let's face it, nothing's happened very fast in terms of arranging any kind of support for your girls so far ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

If I could improve my health and go back out to work to pay the short fall I assure you I would!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Hi Savvy Sue,
I did ask the council when the SW came up with the opportunity for twin2 to go into the New Horizons scheme becuase the SW said that she will need her HBenefit for there and wouldnt be able to have it for here.
As our tenancy is up for renewal at the end of March, I am worried that we will commit to a tenancy payement that the rest of us will not be able to cover.! The thought of loosing another home has me in a downward spiral of dispair. I realise you say cross that bridge when you come to it, but I am tired, and feeling less then able to deal with anymore trauma.
There are some things that I have had to deal with in my life, that I would not put into an open forum, but these have all added to the strong person that I have managed to be. However there comes a time when you start to think that I just cannot deal with anything else. The proverbial straw that breaks the camels back.!
I suppose I was/am trying to make a dent into the impact before it happens becuase so far in life the luck has not been very great in comparision to the pit falls. I seem to move from one disaster to the other.
Hence why I am trying to build my confidence etc with a bit of Mr Paul McKenna mind programming stuff!!.
I am sorry if I come over as pessimistic, just lately thats how I have been feeling.
I am aware that my parents pointed it out to me a few weeks ago, and I am trying to be strong, keep our heads up above water, and keep the family on an even keel. Sounds like I am captaining a ship!!!
Everytime I get my hopes up that something may come to light it goes pair shaped.
I had hoped when Dad and I found this house, nearer to my family and my friends, and the girls friends. DS's old friends, and my eldest that things would be a bit easier and we would be OK.
I nievely thought that becuase of my spondylosis and treatment for Depression that I would be entitled to some help. Alas I am not. I should celebrate that I am not, but I am also unable to work, so its just not such a good thing!. Ah well, I will come up with something somehow, with all the various offers of support and ideas, I must find the net that will support us.
Its got to be between that rocka nd hardplace somewhere!!:rotfl: :rotfl:
As we all succumbed to the same illness as little BGP, it has been a disaster of a weekend, everyone sick, so BF had to stay away.
We are all tired, lethargic and thanking god that we have more than one loo in this house!!:TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Not sure of a law centre. About to re contact the Citizens advice. Have tried both the above websites. Interesting information from the first. Broken link on the second. Need to spend abit more time trawling the government site for this one. Thanks again.:TWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Typical, I am trying to restart things and the Citizens advice line closed at 3pm. The welfare rights at 12.30pm. Will have to wait until Wednesday now!!.
Still trawling the websites and making notes!. One sentance that has jumped out at me, is "Children should stay living with thier parents if possible and get the support to do this." This is a right that we/the parents have.
If the government are saying they should get support, then why are we not getting support.
As a parent they should have a key worker, and the child should also have a key worker. I presume the latter is when they are a bit older and want to know thier own rights.
And "the person who supports the parent should be given the right information so they can be a good supporter".....Well thats me then. So I will continue to shout!!When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

OK, let's try this again

If that doesn't work, it's the "Valuing people now- the delivery plan'. You can probably get it from www.dh.gov.uk. Just put put 'Valuing People' into their search engine.
There is also some stuff on Learning Disabilities : http://www.dh.gov.uk/en/SocialCare/Deliveringadultsocialcare/Learningdisabilities/index.htm
