July Pin Money Savings Challenge

I've just hoovered out my car and found 2 x 1p pieces ha ha, more for the pin money tin.
I have a confession to make that on Friday I went food shopping before lunch and broke the golden rule of never shopping on a hungry tum
Got my bogof tuna and bought own label peas instead of branded ones - but bought sponge cake, crumpets and some other bits oh and some pizzas ( but they were on offer!) and the bill shot up. Got some lovely mince and made a chilli with grated carrot added to make it go further (a tip I picked up on here) and have got enough for tomorrows tea as well.
Ah well, must cut back like crazy next week to make up for the shopping binge!
My pin money challenge is ending on 14th as our pay day is 15th and I started on payday as my first attempt. Should I really be doing this on 1st? I think that's what you all are doing....let me know what you think please.A penny saved is one you don't have to earn! :wave:0 -
When it comes right down to it you can start to fit paydays or any other way you like. Do it any way that suits you. Thing is - it doesn't really matter about pay days; pick yourself a day and start adding up the pennies (or hopefully the pounds) and that's all there is to it. Honest
So we tend to use the start of the month since this is a monthly challenge but there's nothing to stop anyone joining in any old time they like. Another shop another addition to the tub - £3.40 saved from vouchers - £12.52 total to date and it's only the 10th of the month!
At last a reason to enjoy going to Tescos!!
And I was very good about only buying what was needed and spent a lot less than usual.0 -
Now I have a dilemma of a sort. I bought myself some beer as a treat for the weekend - helps wash away the taste of concrete and plaster dust. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Since it was an indulgence I thought I'd take it out of my PMS. After all, that's what it's for. But I also bought the beer that was on offer so do I put the £2.48 saving back into my PMS or just call it a day and withdraw the money that I did spend?
Ho humdecisions, decisions...

Squeaky, ta for your reply, I think I will stick to our payday as that helps with budgets etc.
Hope the beer was nice, if you had bought the beer full price then wouldn't more have come out of your PMS - just a thought. That way you could justify not putting the extra back in and as kscour suggested buy more beer.
We have just spent the weekend digging the garden and where would we be without a cool beer or two! and all that money saved by doing it yourself of course !!

That's what I did in the end - just took the amount I paid out of my pin. Just finished the remainders as a pre-prandial tipple and am currently scoffing roast pork sarnies. Oh yum!We have just spent the weekend digging the garden and where would we be without a cool beer or two! and all that money saved by doing it yourself of course !!

Just order 3 sets of curtains for our folding camper. The curtains were on bogof and came with free pelmets and tiebacks. Saved £53.97. Also a new customer to the catalogue so should be getting a £15 off this order but have not got notice of this yet so I am not counting.
got ds some new trousers out of asda sale racks with £6 off too.
vpm now - £147.27
never thought that it would be this much although we are doing a lot of 1 off spending at the moment. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Just transfered another £5 to my Asda Xmas card which now has a balance of £8.69 on it :jI've already spent £5 that was on it so I'm getting there.
Saved 15p with a voucher and all my change is in my PIN pot. This month every penny counts as I have ebay listing to post and I'm waiting for my Paypal transfer to arrive in my bank account then I can pay back the housekeeping all the postage costs so farCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
