Do you think I should send the letter or not. My husband thinks so but I am still not 100% sure.
You have to send the letter or they will think that they can walk all over you.
Try and make it polite. Say that the tone of their letter did not convey the actuality and give specific examples eg that you had bags packed and were ready to go into the hostel but you were told that you should stay in the house.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. OK, Deep breath now....
I forgot the goods bits that have happened to us this week.....
Last week I signed up withwinstant. with my free £5 I won £32, I put £20 and figured I could lose that and still get £12 but in the end I got another £8.50 and won £40.50 which has been 'withdrawn'!!
My husband should be getting a brand new transit through work soon so it means I can sell mine after we have moved.
Tonight it seems we have won £10 on the lottery with numbers that the kids picked - I signed up for my £3.50 Quidco bonus about 6 weeks ago and had to put £5 down and forgot I had done it until today.
My catalogue have sent my commision out £107!!
And I will be getting about £111 next month through Quidco
And as you will remember, that rainbow appeared a couple of weeks ago. The sunshine after the rain maybe. So something to smile about depsite that damn letter!!0 -

Thanks Sc, yes that is the way hubby sees it.
This is what I *thought* I would do. Wait til Thurs, find out if anything is on this weeks list. if there is we will go and meet with MP that night at open surgery, take the list and tell him we want to apply for x and we want him to chase up our promised points that we did not get. Will also take the letter and evidence of us being prepare for the hostel (paperwork from Wood Green and the storage unit for a start!) but will take this opprtunity to address the council letter face to face.
If there is nothing on the list (I want there to be so I can do the above though!! :rotfl: I am ready for them now!!) then I will send the email addressing just what really happened as you suggest.
Do you think that leaving things a week is too long? Should I deal with it Monday morning anyway? My husband is keep to get it done but I would prefer t do it face to face if I can. What are your honest thoughts. I guessed it would be easier coming from someone on the outside who is not emotionally involved.
Edit to add: Chev suggested me asking about the damage Ryan would cause. So I did, and then they said 'what kind of damage' I said I was disappointed no-one had come around to check so we had bought some pictures with us to show them. It was at this moment she suggested staying in the house instead. LOL, so it is all your fault, I think we scared the hell out of them. LOL!!0 -
BM, I dont think I explained what I meant very well..
I meant include those points I made... in a letter/email to the MP,,,, as a suggestion, after all the last thing you want is anyone misconstruing or adding their own slant onto what will be said in the future which is what appears to have already been done. ( you can word it to suit you, etc but to get in YOUR openness and transparency will also be in good stead for when you do write the letter of complaint once you are rehoused)
There is also nothing wrong or no law to stop you requesting a copy of the notes already made on your homelessness file. The MP could do it for you so that you do not have to have any further conflict... especially with the local elections coming up very soon... ;-)0 -
BTW - I would probably send the MP the letter and follow it up by saying you will attend his open surgery on Thursday.... that gives him a couple of days to dig around a bit more and if there are properties on the bidding system on Thursday... he would have already have highlighted that you are not a woman prepared to be treated badly..0

So they obviously had not looked at your case file, as you have mentioned about Ryan's behaviour, and damagaging stuff as the reason (along with not enough money) for not renting private.! But did make me laugh that the women at the council suddenly suggested you staying at your mum's rather than going to the hostel that day. I would say that implies that SHE knows it is unsuitable too.
And it was also a good way of side stepping giving an answer to the question, ie who pays for the damage. The last thing you need (sorry) is a bill if Ryan reacts badly to his surroundings (which from what you have written before is almost a cast iron certainty). So sorry if I caused a rethink:rolleyes: , but don't let them off the hook with it either.
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Hi chev,
You know I did think that as she never gave us an answer onthis!! It was her way of avoiding this question as you rightly say.
I think out of everything that has happened along the way this is the hardest thing that I have had to deal with. While I want to kick some a!se over this letter I am petrified that if I cause too many waves they will have me down as a troublemaker and refuse to help us. I would complain to higher bodies now but the fear that they will then not help us any longer is the one thing that is putting me off.
I am not letting them off the hook but I am still wrestling over the one best thing to do - the letter is 2 weeks old that they forwarded onto me. I wonder if they know I am getting all copies of all of the correspondance from them to him as well.
I am thinking of going with what Gina has said, telling the MP that I will be coming to see him on Thursday and he needs to requet a copy of the sheet they filled in for my homeless application and my fine so he can see what is really going on. I just have to think about how I word everything now.0 -
I agree with Gina, write to the MP now so that he knows you are coming and can rattle some cages in advance of your meeting.
You need to sort out the housing woman's letter in writing - no point doing it face to face as there will be no record.
As for being difficult, if they know you won't go away then they will want to sort you out to keep you from bothering them.
I would be trying to get something about (potential) damage that Ryan could cause in writing. I am a it concerned that they will use it against you if you can't show that you made them aware of damage possibilities before they offered you anything. I imagine that they have some acomodation somewhere that is temporary and could be property that the council has rented from private landlords. If Ryan did some damage you wouldn't want them to say that the damage was a reason they couldn't rehouse you. This really is crucial, because the main reason you can't go into private rented is that you can't guarantee Ryan's reaction. Without them acknowledging this, they could use it against you.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Hi BM
I agree...put it all in writing. Verbal sutff whether over the phone of face to face is never properly represented unless you yourself write up the minutes and get them to sign it as a true and accurate record.
Currently out of country so not able to log on for long periods..however if you want to forward me your draft letter by email I will give it the once over.
Keep your chin up....and keep the MP in the loop (send him a weekly update or reports of meetings as they occcur). It does sound as if they have mixed you up so stick with it.
Big hugs to you

I would email the MP and voice your concerns and confirm that you will attending his surgery on Thurs.
BTW double check he is holding the surgery this Thurs as it is voting in the Local Elections and I would imagine he would be buys canvassing for votes. Double check tmwr in case he has changed the surgery day.:j I have a persecution complex. Everytime I pass a shoe shop they persecute me till I buy them:j0
