I would stress, even though you are more than capable of doing things for yourself, use whatever support is available through the dept... It maybe an idea to have a look at the L/A website and see what their Supporting People Team has to offer in relation to extra support for you. Most supported accommodation is now funded via the Supporting People fund and most L/A have to be open and transparent with regard to provision of support and accom...

    Hi Gina,

They have never offered any of this, no support or anything and there is nthing on their websites at all. Neither is there on the council website but I think I might call the HA who run the hostel and see if I can find out some other details and ask if I can come and meet them. Nothing ventured and all that. Is the support at the hostel? I would love to go round and know what I am prepared for, the size of the rooms for example so I know what toys I can take for the kids. In one way we are *lucky* as mum does not have a buyer (no interest for 4 weeks now either) so we are going to leave the bigger bits of furniture here and move them at the very last moment. Thank you, something for me to do on Monday.

That park home is gorgeous. I see there is room for me as well :) I am going to need a holiday after all of this, LOL!! Seriously, it is lovely and for the sake of just getting away for another month in the year it has to be worth considering.

Hmmmm...... interesting.... I just googled the HA.

On Friday after the town counciller called me she gave me the number for a district councillor and the HA. I told the town councillor that the HA list is closed, she said 'don't worry about that, just call Mr x as he is quite heavily with the Housing Association, see if he can help you first'. i did not want to say before but the HA who look after the hostel is also the same as the one Mr x is involved with.

Ooooooo. I will report more when I have spoken to him, he was out on Friday when I tried.

    Hi Wol,

Ah it would not be me to be selfish and not help others. Besides it gives me something to do..... LOL!! Hope you have a lovely time, is it a holiday you are away for??

Don't worry I am sure things will still the same as they are when you get back - of course, we could be living off elsewhere in a lovely big house with an acre of garden...... LOL. Please don't feel helpless, just the support is more than enough I promise.

Besides... I know where you all are if I need help and I am sure that there is going to need some painting doing soon!! It has been hard for us, both my husband and I, because strangers have shown more of an interest and have offered us more help then our own families have done. Kind of hard to explain but we have been so used to not having anyone to ask for help, when it is offered we feel embarrassed to say yes. but hey, get your paint brushes ready..... and the reward will be fish & chips if anyone is interested.

Oh and we have had a bit of a day... my son leapt on me this morning and my glasses smashed into my face, I put my hand up to my eye as something did not feel 'right' and the lense had popped out and he has knacked my glasses. So I had a rush around and then had to get up to Tesco, some new glasses (BOGOF though) £85. Have my old glasses on now but they give me a headache as I am not used to the frame pressing against my head. I have to confess to swearing when it happened.

Managed to get the new fish tank as well so the fish and muscles will come out of the pond tomorrow too to get them used to the water. This way we can take them with us when we go (we have to have them in a tank if someone else has to look after them for us) and then once housed until we can get another little pond in for the fish. we built a little pond last year for the kids because we wanted to introduce wildlife into the garden some more. I do feel sad when I know I will not see the new chicks start leaving their nests later in the year.

About a week back my husband saw lots of feathers fall from the sky and in front of the window, looked out and could not see anything and forgot all about it. Until a few days back when i was lookingout the windo and a pigeon landed on a tree, a magpie (who is nesting in the tree) came out and chased the pigeon off who fleww a few hundred years away and sat on another tree, the magpie hpped back to the tree, saw the pigeon on the other tree and flew over an dive bombed it, feathers flew everywhere and then i thought... ah, so that is what happened.

I just wanted to say that despite everything that is going on around us you should still take time to look at the beautiful things going on around in our world. Sometimes it is easy to forget but you shouldn't and little things such as these give you things to smile about. I do think 'I'll miss all of this' but am hoping that our new eventual garden will bring the same beautiful birds - or they will when I make another couple of bird feeders. Corn costs 10p a lb at our farm shop so I scatter that around to bring the birds down too, especially at this time of year when they need the food. Any leftovers from bread, cereal and pasta go out for them too. Just thought I would share. :)

LOL, ah that is what I said Gina 'trailer trash' LOL. And think of how little houseowrk would have to be done..... my husband seems to think I am joking but the more I look the more I like what I see. You can get lots of things like decking around them. Plus you get full time security guards and it's not just anyone can come and go, plus then you have on site entertainment and the like. Please do let me know wha you decide to do and were you decideto go won't you!! Don't forget you can still get freeview and you can get those 'keys' to go online now for £10-£15 a month. it is win, win asfar as I can see :) I hope everything goes well for you but do let me know either on this thread or by PM'ing me. xx

Thank you Mel, just trying to d what I can for my family, I think everyone would fight in the same way.

I reckon they are going to be getting pretty busy over the next year with cases like us, my friend just found out her mortgage is going up from £900 to....... £1700 a month as her FR ends and because she has missed a couple of credit card payments she cannot get another fixed rate. The future really scares me.
