  • I used to boil eggs in the Kettle of hot water after making tea when I was at Uni. I had forgotten! Perhaps you could smuggle in a George Foreman type grill. Toasted sarnies and all sorts.
Loved your rainbow post, bm and I'm glad you're seeing the Doc. All this is a terrible strain on you but, as I've said before, there will come a time when this is in the past and it can't be too soon in coming.
Usual crossed fingers, legs etc for list tomorrow for you.
If you PM me an addy when you can I'll send you a test DVD to make sure you don't miss Lost in the future. Wonder if it would also be useful for me to chuck some CBeebies stuff on DVD for Ryan also?
As always, any little thing I can do to make things a bit easier ...

Morning everyone. Hope everyone is well.

Viv - eeeewwwwwwwwwwwww that is disgusting!! Is that really true?????

Axe, thanks that will be great. Anything really, if you want to give it a try PM me and I'll mail my address over. I am so concerned that I might miss Lost though, LOL, sad isn't it!!

Ally - great idea, I mentioned that to my husband last night. I'll have a look into it, we have to becareful because of Ryan though, if he tipped it on himself for example as he would be interested in it but recognise it as being a danger, but thank you, it is something else to consider.

OK, the points. I was not going to but I did call the council this morning to ask about the points. Please don't act surprised now...... We did not get any!!

Apparently because there is nothing suitable for us they will not give us more points to bid with!! I said I would be cross if there was somewhere available as then we would have been better off going to the hostel and the lady we have been dealing with (who by the way has been really nice and has been/seems to be trying to help) has told us that if something is suitable to apply for the property and to call her right away and she will try and get us the points to get us the house.

She has told me that they looked at our application and that we 'was not being flexible enough'. I said 'there are 2 areas we cannot not go but this leaves everywhere else and this was noted on my intial application'. She told me I had to tell them this, I pointed out that I did, in January, by phone!! I told her explained to the girl why I could not live in those areas and she said it was fine, I did not need a reason!!! As did my MP by letter!! Clearly they have us down for all the wrong areas, !!!!!! is going on??!!

In the meantime, there is obviously nothing available this time so I won't be packing this weekend (LOL!!), but there could be next time so we will play it that way, if something is available we will tell her and she will then try and get us the points. If something comes up and we have to be out of here before the property is ready my husband is going to sleep on his brothers sofa and I will take the kids away for a few weeks while we wait. Even if they have to come out of school, it'll be cheaper than a B&B or hotel if we stay in a caravan somewhere.

I am also updating my MP and will tell him what has happened, also that if something becomes available then we will also tell him so he can get onto the head of housing too and get us these damn points. Otherwise we might as well have gone to the flipping hostel last week.

Rather interesting though.... just been chatting to my HV and she told me that a dad with 3 kids was in a 1 bed flat around here. He was told he was going to the hostel so he got ready for it. The day BEFORE he was due to go in the council called him on his mobile and said 'we have a 3 bed house for you now' and he had to go and see it there and then and decide on the spot as to whether he wanted it. They told me that they do not do this anymore and that it is into a hostel and then you bid, they are not able to offer properties outside of the list.

Hmmmmmm........ lies, lies and more lies.

    Hi blue,

Do you know what gets me with all this housing lark? Its like some arcane art - akin to joining the Magic Circle. Everyone has a set of rules that they obey, but they are secret, and because you are on the "outside" you can't know what their plans for you are. It makes me want to hit my head against a brick wall (where's the smiley for that when you need it????). I saw this with MOT, my aunt, now you.... Hertfordshire and its boroughs has a lot to answer for! Still, in MOT and my aunt's case someone did come through and it was very unexpected in both cases. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you (makes walking and typing very difficult), but I have faith that something will come your way.

And for what its worth, I think the points stuff is total twaddle. But what do I know, I'm an outsider and they are, to use a Lost analogy, THE OTHERS....

    Stay sane xxx

You are so right Viv. I wonder if any oftheir relatives find themselves in the same situation!!

I have been waiting for the list to be released. It has been around 1pm Thursday the other weeks but nothing so far. I am not expecting anything of it but I will look none the less.

Finally managed to get this house in some sort of order as it was looking a bit of a tip. I am at the point where I just do not feel like doing it 'properly' as moving is imminent.

The wheel has come off of Ryans scooter today - I fixed it yesterday but I guess something has come loose inside as a ride to school and it came off again. Trying to find another one the same but they are £25 now. How annoying, I got this one from bargaincrazy for about £6 but it is the micro scooter with 3 wheels rather than 2.

Thanks SBB, hubby came home and got out of his door before Ryan was ther asking him to fix it, LOL!! He has this special stuff that has sealed the nut on. So fingers crossed it should not come loose again. However.... we have one piece left over.... Can't see where it shoudl go at all!!

On another note... :o my son has start playing with his 'ahem' a little too much and is fascinaed by making it 'grow' and having found 'something inside' - if you get my drift!! :o:o:o:o:o Am I explaining this the right way. He does not seem to respond to 'stop playing with it, it will drop off' Any ideas? Should I just let him get on with it or what? Should I make big deal over it? anyone with boys going to tell me this is normal? Hope he does not start showing everyone at school...

Oh, and nothing on the list. Another few weeks here then.

Something is bugging me though. What on earth will I do with my wardrobes, they are too big and bulky to ask people to take and I have 3 of them. Bit of a waste of money to put 3 wardrobes into storage isn't it. I am afraid to say that it is keeping me awake at night. :o

it is very normal behaviour ..i would be careful with the choosing of the words you use you dont want to scar him ...so many people think it's dirty because of how they have been brought up ...but at the same time it is not suitable for an evenings entertainment ...can you explain to him that he is right to want to try these things out but that if he feels he wants to he should do it in private like maybe his room or the toilet?
