red ruby, if you've got lemon + honey, try that instead of lemsip, Boil the kettle, slice up 4 slices of lemon, 1 spoonful of honey into a mug and fill with boiling water. Let sit a few minutes, then it's cool enough to drink. Honey is better for your throat than cough syrup!
We did a butcher's run yesterday , too , well my DH did while I was at work...... he got a pheasant, sausages, mince beef, whole chicken, pork stir-fry pieces....... will last us for over 2 weeks. We dont' eat meat everyday and most of the time I get 2 meals out of what we buy.0 -
Haribo, Bob is NOT nosy, he's interested
It's peeing down here, I've finished in the greenhouse (yay), but it's too windy and rainy to work in the garden so I've come in to plan the veg patch. I was really organised too, took a flask of coffee with me and everything
We won't be going out tonight, miss tru has the tummy bug
I've put the washing on, might catch up with the ironing too.Bulletproof0 -

yeah yeah. That's what my robin says too. Mine is female and just waits every morning to see my light come on hoping for some juicy titbits.
By the way Aussie....Your neighbours really did get sick of your lettuce didn't they? I see they are voting as to whether to put the new phrase of "Salad dodger" in the dicionary.Definition: A person seen swimming away from Lamb Island while blonde in lettuce laden boat gives chase.
Snowy... I hope you feel better soon. Admit it....You're addicted to daytime telly aren't you?0 -
Just read the posts that I missed when I was typing mine.
TIREDMUM - good luck with the dog. I do hope you all like each other and that you can bring him home. I've just been reading about those poor horses that were kept in such dreadful conditions. I'm so pleased they have been rescued although it was too late for some of them. If I had the space I'd have them all here.
SNOWY - get well soon - I can't believe how many of us on here have had one bug or the other.
PENPIN - It defies belief that they got the dose of Warfarin so wrong. With your medical history, you'd think that everything would be double, no, treble-checked. I find it incomprehensible that they made such a mistake. You must have been horrified and angry when you found out. I do hope you feel better soon. I'm thinking of you.
Well, off to do some work.
See ya.

Hi everyone :hello:
First time I've managed to post on here for a while, though I have read the thread most days - not read yesterday's yet but will catch up later. DSIL went back to College this week, so DH has gone with him today as his LSA - so nice to have the house to myself for a day, though it feels quite strange!
Sorry to hear there are still a lot of poorly posters out there. Get well asap.
Haribo - I think Stefejb is on holiday atm, in Holland, staying near her dad.
Penny-Pincher - I was shocked to read about your warfarin, no wonder you've been feeling so bad!
Shez - glad you and Rzl had a good time!
catowen - hope you have a nice afternoon (it's too late to wish you a nice morning:rolleyes: )
Scuzz - good luck in finding a new job, I hope you get an employer who values you as you should be valued!
I'm sorry to realise I missed Martin's programme - I didn't know it was on last night, and in any case we had my DH's stepfather with us (he'd been visiting MIL in KC Hosp) so weren't really taking much notice of the TV anyway. I'll have to look out for the next one!
I should really be using this day on my own to catch up with housework, but I'm going out with DD2 this arvo - she's getting used to coping with 2 little ones but when shopping it's so much easier if there are the two of us.
Just had a call from DH, who has managed to pick up my mobile phone as well as his own and has taken them both to College! Better be careful not to lose track of DD when we're out, then!
Better go now and do a bit more surfing on here, then put the hoover round, change our bedding, and oh, various fun things.
best wishes

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this.
I was reading something on another site and it was stating that there is more depression now than ever before and this rarely affects people born before 1945. It goes on to say that one reason for this is due to a decrease in familiy/friends support around you. This got me thinking...
I quite often feel down in the dumps and wish someone would knock on my door and discuss silly things like 'what i'm having for dinner' or whats the best way to clean...' etc (things we discuss on this o/s board really).
I work 15 hours a week in an office on my own and come home to all my chores and cooking the dinner. We have a large family on both sides but we don't see them as often as we would like and they are never very supportive about my old style ways, so i rarely have anything in common with them.
With DH, DD1 & DD2 to look after there is always something to do. But i make sure i take a look at this O/S board everyday. If i didn't, i'm sure i'd go mad.....
Anyway, does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? How do you all get support from around you?0 -
Hello!
I have called in sick today as well - technically NOT untrue as when I woke up my whole body was painful and stiff. Anyway a couple of tablets and about 10 teas and I'm beginning to feel better. Might go and play on the Wii in a minute to loosen myself up :P
I want to have my first attempt at baking bread today (by hand, as I don't have a BM). Also need to make a banana loaf and freeze half, probably do a bit of shopping as well.
On the very good news front, it looks like OH and I will be out of financial dire straights by the end of Feb (due to us both being out of work for a while, it all went to pot). I got a big paycheck this week, which will almost take me out of my OD, then OHs wages can cover the council tax and elec, plus leave some left over for fuel :j. Its nice to be getting back on track again. We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment0
