OS Daily 10th Jan 2008

Good morning everyone,

Will just get the sticky -

Good morning.. this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 09/01/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well

Quiet day for me today, only before and after children here, but im not feeling that good today (never sleep well, and its catching up with me i think) so im going to make the most of being on my own and doing not a lot(might get to watch a film)!!!

Do need to do a little bit of cleaning, and i really would like to hoover upstairs, while i have the chance (not something i can do with LOs here). Also need to get the BM on for some more bread.

DS is going to some 'do' during and after school with his class today, some new childrens thing is being opened and children from the local schools have been invited, so will have to collect him later today, hes really looking forward to it (they get a free sweatshirt) so hope that its good fun for them.

Well, thats enough drivel from me, i hope everyone has a lovely day,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Morning Catowen and Sunnyday and all who follow/cross.

Not much to report in DG land, lunch went well, then the ladies took off for an hours walk leaving the guys with the washing up. One of the ladies has been recommended walking for an hour a day to help reduce her collestral(sp). DH has a bit of a cold and the result is (apart from the sighs!) even louder snoring hence on here again.

Forecast looking good so if that comes off going to have a look at Cartegena today.

    ((hugs)) to all

Morning all - back to work today after 2 days off sick. Haven't got much of an appetite so food will be basic today. Have washed up and have a laundry load to dry before work; will put it away tonight.

Tonight I'm going to start sorting out books to go - will dedicate the weekend to this as well, and will expect to have made major progress. If I get through that, clean the bathroom, and dust and hoover the livingroom and diningroom by the end of the weekend, I'll be happy. I also need to tune in the new DVD/video player; DH can't do it (but won't admit it! The last one never did get properly sorted).

    Morning Everyone

Feeling totally shattered. Not a good night sleep yet again.

Was very proud of myself yesterday. Went to Mr T and actually stuck to the list:T

Been invited out this evening, but I think I'm going to have to give it a miss as I'm so tired. Decided I'll apply for those jobs at the weekend when I don't have to wake up at 4am.

Spoke to one of my bosses yesterday about the work situation. He used to be in charge but the current idiot was brought in above him. He's not surprised to hear I'm looking for something else and agrees that I should do no more overtime as I get nothing back.

    Hope everyone's ok

Thanks for all the comments about the lodger, I am advertising for another one and as soon as something turns up, I'll nudge this one out.
Off to work soon, I watched Martins programme last night, I went to W.I. but there was no-one there, I can only assume we were bumped along a week because of Christmas, I'll try next week, lol.
    Have a good day.

Good morning all. Well, I'm nearly ready for work. One DD is up and OH has just gone for a shower, so left to my own devices I came on here...
Lots to do today. Hoping Bank of England are going to make a drop in interest rates-as was rumoured on news yesterday!!!:j That will be most helpful as far as our mortgage situation is concerned. Better go and finish getting sorted.

Morning to all who have posted and will post after me.

CATOWEN - I have not been sleeping well either; As soon as I lie down I get a tickle in my throat and start coughing. It's the last bit of my Christmas cold to go. Fortunately, it doesn't really bother my DH (it would bother me if I had to listen to it all night!). The result is that I am already tired but have some jobs I am determined to get done today. I am going to take time out this afternoon to watch ([strike]doze off in front of the telly)[/strike] a film that I recorded the other day. It's called 'Breathing Lessons' starring James Garner and is the film of a book by one of my favourite authors, Anne Tyler - I shall try and do some knitting at the same time.

Plan today is to make some bread and a Bakewell tart. I bought some Bakewells the other day (I know it's not very OS but I didn't have time to bake) and they were revolting. Not a 'value' supermarket-own either. We couldn't eat the rest of them and I didn't have the heart to give them to the birds and raise their cholesterol levels. So, I have printed off Jamie Oliver's recipe and will give that a go later.

Other than that, I just want to carry on clearing up the paperwork pile that I started yesterday, write a few letters and prep the veg for dinner tonight, which will be lamb chops, roast pots, courgettes, carrots and gravy. Hopefully, pudding will be Bakewell tart.

The house feels nice and clean and organised for a change, after a neglectful Christmas and New Year so I just need to clean the bathroom after I have my shower.

I really enjoyed Martin's programme yesterday but I don't think it was long enough! I would also love to have some of his boundless energy - I wonder where he gets that from?

Anyway, off now to have a shower so will call back later.

Hope everyone has a brilliant day and many (((hugs))) to all who are poorly or looking after poorlies.

Hi PAM - just read your post. Good luck to you and your DH with giving up the fags! I hope you qualify for a blue badge. Both my sisters have them; one has fybromyalgia and the other has osteoarthritis and the blue badge makes their lives just that little bit easier.

  • Good morning everyone! Having a day at home, so need to get tidied and cleaned this morning. Recorded Martin's programme, so will be catching up with Lillibet later :j I have a cake that needs icing in time for the Small Penguins coming home from school.

Off to see my friend who broke her ankle this afternoon. She's really fed up, though she's off to the hospital next week for them to see if she can have a weight-bearing pot on. I'm taking her some Christmas cake - she's the only one in her house who likes it, so she doesn't make one :o

DD went to a sleepover at the weekend and was woken with the mother bringing them a cup of tea :T Small Penguins have decided that's how they'd like to start their days  so tea's brewing. Quite handy, really, as they're struggling to get out of bed after the holiday.

Off for a run, so see you all later, Penny. x

    morning all,

woken up with a sore throat, and very hot, I hope it doesn't get any worse, but the good news is that I have the day off today :j , I went into work yesterday and got everything done, I dread the thought of sitting there trying to look busy  , so I booked a day off, will take DD to the station , come back and do a bit of housework, pop to the butchers then have a rest.
I have sainsbugs coming tonight, but need to get some minted lamb chops from the butchers, they are delish.

Hugs to Mrs mix and scuzz

    hope everyone is well xx
