  • Just watched a recording - and thought it was good :T Didn't understand the drainpipe, though  will need to concentrate better next week ;) It did make me think of Mrs Merton's interviewing of Debbie McGee "and what first attracted you to the millionaire, Paul Daniels?"

I didn't think I was going to learn anything new, but liked the Amazon tip - will definitely be checking that one. Loved the OS Thrifty Tip :T

I reclaimed MEAF last year, and can confirm that it's a really quick and easy process - 1 call to the bank who gave me a website address to print off a form. Signed and returned that, and cheque for £120 within a week :j

I don't watch much TV, though, so will probably stick to hearing Martin on Radio 4's Money Box.

  • I enjoyed the show, although personally, I found the Lady presenter highly annoying, I think Martin would have done better on his own.

I think the show raised lots of good points, and that anyone who was interested in a certain item could quite easily follow up any missed/further information through the web site if needed.

I think Martins, bubbly enthusiasm was great, i find all the money saving quite exciting too! I didn't think he rushed too much, although i can also see that some people may have struggled to take in the information. Yes, the drainpipe was a bit confusing, but it made a point, although maybe not too clearly to someone who is not used to the money saving way of thinking.

Overalll I think that if the show gets peoples attention and gets them looking into and actually saving money, then it can only be a good thing.

Keep up the good/hard work Martin.
  • I thought it was good, although I did not watch till the end as my boyfriend wanted me to come to the supermarket.

I'm sure it will come on as the series progresses.

The lady had nice shiny hair and I liked Martin's shirt.

Liked it, I'm fed up with shows like Watchdog who treat you like idiots and go at 1mph. Martin obviously had been told to slow down or wanted too himself at the start, but then got excited and speeded up to almost his normal speed. Good!
I didn't learn anything new that I can remember, but will watch it next time, it went very quickly.

Good show on the whole. I thought it was a good idea to have celebs as well as normal people - this illustrates that financial tips and advice are suited to ALL of us across the board and we all have the same kind of issues whether we're rich or poor.

Found it slightly difficult to process what Martin was saying in some parts because of the speed he was rattling it off. It wasn't easy/comfortable to listen to at times as I felt I was straining a bit to try to concentrate.

Didn't like the gimmicks, I though the climbing wall was ridiculous and the drainpipe was embarrassingly 'Blue Peterish' and made me think of when BP show the kids how to make a tower out of sticky backed plastic. :rotfl: Sorry.

I'm not against gimmicks completely but I think they should be less childish.

What about using some sort of computer chart or spreadsheet that could be projected onto a wall or big screen? Martin could have a 'signature' pointer of some sort which he uses to 'point' out (double meaning) the person's good buys and bad spends? Then the end figure could be highlighted and left saved to measure against the next person's end figure etc.

I liked the flying pigs....maybe a pig sticker with the person's name on it could be stuck onto the chart instead of highlighting the end figure?

Maybe useless suggestions, but I do think the drainpipe needs binned.

Don't think the lady presenter was needed, she seemed a bit like a spare part and her shirt was so tight across her boobs that my OH thought it was a different kind of show when he came in. :rotfl:

i watched didnt know about the mortgages but wont affect me. I have heard of soap nuts but are they any good and how is vinegar better than fabric softener. A little bit more explanation would have been good.

Not interested in free mcdonalds as dont eat it. Comps was interesting but didnt say which sites he used also its not guaranteed to win anything you could sit there all day and never win anything. i used to do comps and didnt win.

    good show tho.

If you look at the IPTW website here http://www.itpaystowatch.co.uk and click on last night's segments you'll find links to MSE and the various boards and articles by Martin. Also please watch ItPaysToWatch More for a question and answer session done at the end of official filming.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I enjoyed it - didn't learn anything new but then I do spend most of my life on these boards sad person that I am!

I do agree that Martin did speak a bit too fast but I am sure he will slow down a bit in future shows. I did not like the woman and did not see the point of her and I hated the bit where Martin was climbing the wall.

  • I didn't watch it live but recorded it and have now watched a couple of times. I thought it was just so Martin and that it was like MSE and the Email had come to life with such enthusiasm and passion. I read the boards every day and get the email every week but don't profess to know everything by any means so I'm sure there will be lots of snippets of information that will take me to read articles I hadn't thought to read before, oh and to print off my voucher for BOGOF at McD's/KFC :D

I thought it was a great first show last night Martin, well done :T :T

but ... you need to breathe, lol.

Many of us who have been on this site for a while know half of the stuff mentioned on the show, but there are millions of people out there who don't know about MEAF, Amazon refunds, Soap nuts etc and I'm sure they'll be a lot more money saved during 2008 as a result of this show.
A great way to start a new year ... :T

I know you couldn't really promote your site, but I thought a mention may have been made of doing a Money Makeover for your viewers so they could start by saving straight away.

Loved the show, loved the format, but lose the drainpipe ... it looked cheap and nasty :p

Good luck with future shows, you did a great job :j :j

BUT DON'T FORGET TO BREATHE :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Yes I noticed that as well, no complaints here about that :)
She did look a bit wierd though, I thought it was her shirt, but couldn't quite work it out, then my oh pointed out, her skirt was too high.
    Very decorative though.

Echo the others, the drainpipe made no sense and was a bit embarrassing.

I bet Mr Daniels felt a bit silly after Martin told everyone what he said about it being such a small saving compared to what he earns. I think that may have been a mistake by Martin, he needs his celeb guests to be open.
