If the viewing public were watching the programme though and wanted to know more I'm sure googling just about anything Martin Lewis/It pays to watch would be people into the fold so to speak.

Not mentioning it doesn't mean that people won't find us.

It would be very interesting to know the viewing figures if/when they are available.

Thought the show was generally quite good, a lot most of the info. most of us already know from MSE but it's the wider 'non believers' that will benefit.

Very fast pace, seemed to be over quickly.

I was expecting a few more testimonial or vox pops from people who have made savings.

Not sure about the drainpipe. I understand the illustration but doesn't fit into the decor.

Like to see some controversial 'celebrity' guests.

Didn't notice Boots, Tesco or any banks advertising around and inbetween the show.

Out of curiosity, what's the advertising response been like Martin?

Expect this would be hot for no win no fee Claims Direct style companies?

Good night for consumer news tonight - new series of Watchdog on BBC1 at 8pm.

Nice shirt though - Christmas pressie from Mrs L to be?
One hundred years from now it won't matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much money I had in the bank, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little better because, I was important in the life of a child.
  • I'm just watching it again and as Martin says Ruth carefully "introduced" Martin as Money Saving Expert so as Jessica says with the name of Martin Lewis and Money Saving Expert, voila, googlers are here :)

i watched didnt know about the mortgages but wont affect me. I have heard of soap nuts but are they any good and how is vinegar better than fabric softener. A little bit more explanation would have been good.

Not interested in free mcdonalds as dont eat it. Comps was interesting but didnt say which sites he used also its not guaranteed to win anything you could sit there all day and never win anything. i used to do comps and didnt win.

    good show tho.

Enjoyed the show, and have just watched the extra bit on the Pays to Watch website, which was even better than the show itself.

The quick talking style and Martins striped shirts will be Martins trademark. The subject of the show will not be new to users of this site, but will be new for people who have not found it until now.

Site stats show 6,700 signed up to the e-mail today, and there were 8814 users online at 8.17pm. The highest number online ever. Was this as a result of the show?

    Congratulations to all involved.

And was that the MSF presenting the weather just before the show?

    I enjoyed the show!

I was interested to see Martin on a climbing wall as I used to go climbing (years ago!) but in the open air on real rock before it became too technical.

Paul & Debbie made it interesting.

Lillibet from Old Style was a natural in front of the camera, you'd think she did it all the time. :T

The actual programme only runs for about 22 1/2 minutes. Maybe just a little too much was crammed into that. One less item would enable Martin to slow down a bit - maybe more towards the style of the website extra programme.

I can thoroughly recommend 'It Pays To Watch More'. It is another 22 minutes or so and really shows that Martin knows his stuff. Even Paul Daniels comes across as quite likeable!

Some people have been rather unkind about Ruth, Martin's co host. I thought she was great - and I say that on the evidence of not just tonight's show but seeing her in the flesh (so to speak) during Monday's dress run too.

Most programmes of this type have a duo of male & female presenters. Think of The One Show or Watchdog - on in the same time slot as IPTW next week! I think it worked well, with a sensible division of who did what.

Finally, Martin should be congratulated on his prompt and frank responses to this forum. Not many presenters of national TV programmes would take the trouble.
