Morning all...................(((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))) if you need one, have not read the thread yet, will go back and do it when I have posted.

OH decided he needed a haircut, so we went up on the bus, he went to the barbers, I went to Boots and Bon Marche. I need two outfits for wearing at 'do's' for the bowls club, didn' find anything I really liked so no money spent.

We decided to walk back, it was cold, but not too bad.

Coffee mornings start again in the complex tomorrow and I have an appointment for an eye test at lunchtime.

Its dull here, rain forecast for after lunch.

Sausage and bean casserole for supper tonight with carrots mash and peas, have a bit of creme caramel to finish up as well.

I did not watch Hugh FW last night, I knew if I did it would make me cross, a) because I can't afford to buy free range chicken and b) I know the way they rear chickens and slaughter them is cruel.

I was talking to someone on the bus on Friday we agreed, if they paid pensioners a decent pension, there would be no need for Housing Benefit, CT benefit or fuel allowance and we would be able to buy meat etc that is not intensively reared and afford to keep warm as well as eat, for a lot of people that is the only choise they have...........I must admit its one of the things that bugs me, we work all our life and pay into the system which then penalises you for being old.............ggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, its time I joined the pensioners alliance........ rant over.

The sky was looking a bit black but its brighter now.........oh wants to use the computer this afternoon to do his bowls club meeting minutes, so I am going to spend the afternoon on my machine.................

Washing is on the line outside and have decided now that only two DDs are at home I am going to start thinking of myself!

Intend to lose weight and start going back to the hairdressers again - DDs used to nick my appointments!!!

Told DH I was going to improve myself and lose weight - going to get hair cut and coloured to give myself a boost so I do not feel "deprived!"

His reply - not "Good , you deserve to start thinking of yourself"

Just "that would not get any weight off!"

Have decided to just shut up about the idea and do whatever I think is helpful and if anyone does not like it then they can go and get stuffed!!!!

The worm is turning! (or rather the big fat slug!!!):rotfl:

Hugs to all and see you later.

    Hello again,

Back from the hospital and ................... IVE BEEN DISCHARGED!!!!..... my level was 138 yesterday, which is brilliant for me, and my consultant has said i can ring them any time i feel i need to, and they will see me the same day. Such a relief that i dont have to keep going in, and my poor arms are going to be really pleased, i do look a bit of a druggie sometimes with all the bruises and needle marks!!! It is a relief to know they will see me immediatly as well, but i supose i do know that if my levels were to drop, they would drop big time and quickly (this is what he has warned me) and that could be very dangerous for me, so its nice to know they will still act quickly if need be.

I have DS home today - he woke with a tummy ache and headache. Mind you, the moment we got to the hospital he perked up a bit - he is now lying on the sofa with the Arsenal fleece i bought him for Christmas - hes also helping keep the LO amused, which is a big help for me.

Havnt done much today, still have some cleaning to do, but will do that when LO has a sleep, cant do the hoovering when he is here cos he is scared of the hoover but that will be done tonight after dinner.

Twink and Kyle - hope all has gone well today - love to you both xxx

((HUGS)) to all those who are poorly xx

Oh, Martin Lewis is on Radio 1 right now!!!

Take care everyone, and thank you for all your good wishes this morning, im sure it helped!!!

  • Yay, Catowen, that's brilliant news! :T

Hi all. Late checking in here today because I've just driven DS21 to the station to catch his train back to uni :( am much in need of chocolate and a good cry, but have resisted both, so far.

Looks like it might rain any moment here so I won't do any washing yet, I'm pretty much up to date so tomorrow will do. Must make a start on the cleaning though, apart from hoovering the sitting room nothing much has been done round here since New Year and it shows :o

Didn't watch that prog about chickens last night, would have got me too upset I think. I never buy cheap chooks though; my OH who works in the supermarket industry had an informative day trip to a chicken slaughterhouse and I can barely get him to eat chicken at all now, let alone those that have had such a miserable 'life'. On the other hand I know that many many people need cheap food in order to feed their families so I don't really know what the answer is. I can remember the days when chicken was a great treat though; we only used to have a roast chicken once every three weeks or so, and certainly never had any during the week.

Have a good day all. Hugs to all those still not well.

congrats on the good news catowen :T :T :T .

I did not watch the chicken programme either, I find it too distressing, we only ever buy the free range organic chickens (got one for this sunday), mind you the smallest one was £6, the three of us will have a roast on sunday and I hope there is enough left for a pie on monday. I got 1/2 shoulder of lamb last sunday for £2.38, comes to something when lamb is cheaper than chicken.

DS has gone upstairs to play on the computer. Hope his botty is ok. He hasn't done anything yet. Trouble is, he has only been wearing underwear for a few weeks and although yesterday was the first 'accident' of the solid kind, he just does not tell us when he needs to go.

I've had a lazy morning, didn't try to do any work-work yet. Spotted a future income-boosting idea, being a tutor for the OU. My subject doesn't have vacancies right now, but it could be really handy if I have to go part-time when DS starts secondary school and can't go to the after school club any more.

Had home made kidney bean, chorizo, pepper and tomato soup with deli bread and butter. DS had bread, butter, a cheese string, some ham and a petit miam. He's not much of a fruit or veg eater. I have made a turkey bolognese sauce for the freezer and the loaf of bread is almost cooked. Am planning a special pasta bake from the epicurous website with feta, mozzarella, ham and tomatoes. Still have a chilli to make for the freezer, it will have to be with black eyed beans as I don't have any kidney beans left. Hope DH will appreciate my industry!

Even OH was singing praises of MSE even though he normally laughs and takes the rise about my frequent visits to the website. Men!!! :rotfl:
