Good morning.. this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 08/01/08. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well
Morning All
Just trying to catch up with yesterday's thread. dial up was not playing at all. I will be typing this in bits saving as I go as I do not trust the connection. 7.12 here now, woke up at 6.45 after a few very lay-in days.:o
Had a bottle of red wine last night, hence awake early, don't know why it has this effect but it does, also rather warm does red wine do this to any others over a certain age?? - Sorry I forgot we are all under 50 on here:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Pam (((big hugs))) I get really cross with the presumptions made by the medicals that here you are young, otherwise fit, with kids, etc., and you can be left to deteriorate into a wheelchair and constant pain, instead of giving you the choice that if you have to be immobile to do it at a later age rather than when you need to be mobile. Also looking at medical advances in 20 years time there could be another method of helping your knee. It's just a damned excuse not to spend the money.  (rant over). BTW Pam those tablets seem to have helped my knee, still got the foot to get fixed but so far so good. Making the foot work is my current method of treatment, going for a walk - at my pace - each day and building up. (((hugs))) Odds I know where you are coming from with a poorly foot. Hope the op works.
Have to report the weather here is very very nice at the moment, have been sitting out sunbathing for the last two days:j :j . Also overnight temperatures have risen, it was 12 outside when I woke up today, probably part of the heat problem:o . Trying to decide if we are off out today, but the boys had 5 pints last night, so may not see them before 11. (and they are not driving before 12 anyway).
Chalky - are you still out here??
Catowen - really hope you get your wish on a discharge or at least a long time before they want you back, good news on the levels.
(((Hugs))) to all feeling less than 100% and those with poorly LO's.
Hi to any newbies I haven't met before.
Can anyone tell me how to link up to you all in Facebook? Not that I can see it being very good via dial-up.
Right off to read the rest of yesterdays pages I have loaded up before disconnecting - need to be MS don't I!!

Good morning donny gal and all who follow.
((HUGS)) to anyone who is still feeling poorly xxx
Just a quick one from me this morning, off to the hospital later, and im really expecting to be discharged, so please keep your fingers crossed for me - i will pop back later and let you all know how i get on!!!
Just one LO here today, so will be a nice easy day, we had a great day yesterday, he really makes me laugh (and me him for some strange reason!!!) so it makes for a lovely time. We do need to pop into the shops and get milk while we are out (and DSs footie magazine) but thats all today.
Anyway, better get moving,
Have a lovely day everyone,
Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx0 -
Morning Donny, Catowen and anyone else who crosses and follows,
Haven't read the last bit of the thread but hope all is well, HUGS to those who aren't feeling 100%.
CATOWEN good luck at the hospital.
Really enjoyed my stew last night, was just what we all needed. DS really enjoyed his first Karate class so I'm hoping he will do it regularly. Every other sport like rugby and football he has gone off. However, he still goes swimming and loves that. He was the youngest one there which was also good for him as it means he can't muck about too much.;)
I am off to work in a minute, hope my back doesn't play up too much and it's not like the last shift I did. Dinner is roasted chicken legs, salad and rice.
Have a good day :A xxxx0 -
Hi DONNY-GAL - sorry you're having problems with dial-up. You could try typing in Word, saving as you go, then just copy and paste onto here. It was something CRAZYCHIK suggested ages ago because I kept losing posts. You could do this when you're offline then it will be ready to copy and paste when you connect. Hope this makes sense! Anyway, you are in Spain, now, aren't you? Hope you're having a good time!
I need to catch up on the rest of yesterday's thread - I didn't get a chance to look at it after my first post. I decided to give my front room a complete deep clean and move some of the furniture around and, of course, it ended up taking nearly all day! We have lots of pine furniture that my DH has either made or restored and, as he was off work all day, he decided to re-wax it all. It meant he was really in the way all day but, I have to admit, it all looks lovely and feels like a whole new room, so it was worth all the hassle!
Not sure what my plans are today because DH is waiting for a new contract to start; hopefully, that will be some time today then I can get going with my own work - I just can't concentrate when he's here because he keeps interrupting me!
I am, for the first time in ages, up to date with the ironing with every intention of doing it every day so I never end up with the dreaded mountain! We'll see how long that lasts!
I have just ordered a couple of things from Amazon for DGS's birthday on 20 Jan and DGD's on 23 and they have said they will take two to three weeks because one of them has to come direct from the supplier so they might not arrive on time. I suppose they will be a surprise for them when they do turn up. They've said that before and the items have arrived sooner so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I have other presents for them - one being the lovely party dress I bought in Woolies, reduced from £28 to £10. DGD just loves dressing up all girlie, and I bought some jeans and a top for DGS in Adams' sale, plus a couple of toys for each of them. Their birthdays are so soon after Christmas that even they get 'present fatigue'!
Well, I had better go and have my shower before DH gets up - see you all later. (((Hugs))) to all those still poorly and all those in need.

Just edited to send hugs to MRSMIX - I'll try and read yesterday's thread to catch up with your news.
CATOWEN - good luck at the hospital.

Morning everyone,
Hope everyone has a good day today!
I didn`t get a lot of sleep last night but so far so good, i think it was worrying about overlaying the next day, it always gets me like that when i`m on early mornings.
The alarm went off at 0345 and i surprised myself by getting straight out of bed and running downstairs to put the coffee on, when i turned the kitchen lights on a bulb popped and i was left fumbling around in the dark as it blew the fuse so i do hope this dosen`t mean the rest of today is going to be bad :-(
Well i`m here at work after a busy morning, the dogs are walked the dishwasher emptied, the wm should be done now to hang up when i get home but the slow cooker is still on as i didn`t think the shepherds pie base was done enough so i just turned it onto low before i came out, hope it`s ok when i get home.
I took the loaf out of the breadmaker before i came out too and i`m quite pleased as it`s the first time i`ve tried using the timer and i was a bit worried about it.
Right i`m off to do some work now so have a good day all.
Good luck at the hospital catowen!
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning all
I didn't get in till 11:30, I'm glad I went as only 2 others did, I feel I made a diifference, lol. I spent a whole £1 on the raffle so it was cheap for an evening of peace.
Woohoo, hubby has a days work on Thursday, well unless it rains, even if it does, it will just be put back a day or 2. I know it's only £10, but it makes him feel so much better.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Hugs Hester

Good morning everyone!
Had a good OS day in the end yesterday you would all be proud of me!! Whizzed up some double cream and put it in the freezer, used up manky looking mushrooms and yellow pepper in a store cupboard find sauce with some sausages chucked in and DH really liked t!! Made enough for 2 meals on purpose so have second lot in the freezer for another day!! Yipee!
Unfortunately DD age 9 snapped her glases in half at school (think she was mucking about!) so that's £40 for a new frame! But did find a couple of £1 end of M & S sale bargains while we were in town which was nice! But DD had to have new school shoes so that was another £38 why do they keep growing!!??
Hope you all have good days today, I might get round to doing some house work (I'm never keen!) but I think I might have to soon!!
Big hugs to you all xxx0 -
Hi Mioliere. You must have snuck in while I was still typing!!! lol
Hi TATTYCATH! Just tried waking my DH up and looks like I'll have to get tough with him, too! It's these dark mornings, isn't it?
FURRYPIG - they do stop growing! They become fully-fledged adults and buy their own clothes and then, suddenly, you have a bit more money for yourself! I know what you mean, though. When my two were younger, all I seemed to do was buy them clothes and shoes; they outgrew them almost as soon as I bought them, or they damaged them. It's never ending, isn't it? But, it doesn't last forever, I promise!KNIT YOUR SQUARE TOTALS:

Morning all
Pitch black here this morning, I thought the mornings were supposed to be getting lighter
Donny, do you have to tell us you were sunbathing, what with you and Aussie, you just make me long for summer even more
Catowen, fingers crossed they discharge you today
Well, first day back at work today, quite looking forward to it, but will need to wrap up as it's going to be cold, and anyone in Scotland you had better get your snow boots out
Made some butternut squash soup last night but wasn't sure how much curry paste to put in and I think I overdid it a bit - supposed to have started my diet, but the tin of coconut milk in it won't help
Hope everyone is OK, have a good day xYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
