Paypal investigating me

Update!
The 'buyer' contacted me saying that this was all PAYPAL's mistake and that he has done nothing wrong!!
I said give me my money or return the DVD's. He asked for a return address so he could send them back so I gave him an address to send it to (not my home address) and told him to make sure he sends it recorded and highers the compensation. We shall see if it arrives or not - at least this proves he received them otherwise he would not say he would send them back!
ALSO
Received an email from paypal today saying:
"We have conducted a review of a payment that you received. In this case, returning the funds to the sender was determined to be the appropriate action, and we have completed a reversal of the payment."
I have replied to them asking why? I dont see how they can just take away my money without any explanation of why.2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Unfortunately they always do it, and it is happening more nowadays! I have over 2000 positive feedback but recently that has been tarnished by buyers saying they do not receive items and claiming through paypal. My big error was to offer insurance as an 'option'. Paypla do not care whether the buyer chose NOT to take out insurance, you on the receiving end of payment should buy it no mater what! I've lost 2 transactions recently for over £250 and it has been the wost time (I also am short on change at the mo).
So from now on, I offer cheque/PO only. Only trouble is I used to sell a lot to Americans, I guess I'll have to rethink the whole thing!0 -

Have you tried ringing paypal? I think the number was posted earlier in this thread. I had to ring them twice when I had a problem on ebay and one person I spoke to was rubbish but the other one was really helpful. It's worth a try.
What did I do at work before I discovered MSE?!
DFD - WAS: a while ago

You don't have to rethink the whole thing just make sure you cover yourself so that you can repay the buyers and not have to let them do a chargeback against you.
For items up to £30 either get a COP or send recorded delivery, for items over that send special delivery. Then if a buyer does not get their item repay them and claim back from the post office.
you appear to be saying that you will only take cash or cheques in future so that next time a parcel goes astray you you won't have to repay the buyer, which is why I would never buy from anyone on ebay without the protection of paypal.

Not to digress away from KIT's problem, but i'm gonna share this one with you all anyway...because it will open a lot of ebayers eyes to this issue!
after reading Kits problems earlier today, this afternoon I had this terrible feeling of dajavue....
On monday, I sold a pair of boots to a new bidder, who took me up on my BUY IT NOW price of £69.99, and on paying instantly by PAYPAL, sent me an email explaining that he would appreciate the boots by Friday.... nothing suspect, so I rushed them into the post for him as a good ebayer would, feeling assured that I had the money in my paypal account. ALL SORTED.
Then this afternoon, I have a buy it now purchase for three wristbands that I sell......from the same guy.....again nothing to suspect about that, I had given him good service and he most probably saw them in my cross-promotions!
But on getting the same email of can I have them by friday....KITS bells starting ringing in my head!!!!
On investigating into the ebayer....he had been signed up for two days and had purchased a pair of boots from me, another pair of boots from elsewhere, a Henry Aresnal top, my wristbands, oh....and A LAPTOP!!! ALL ON BUY IT NOW!!!
So...what do you do???...paypal haven't yet been in touch with any problem or withdrawing the money back from me......but KIT was giving me a headache by now.....what do you do????
Well....what I did....was I got in my car and drove the 45 miles to Birmingham to confirm my fears that the address was an empty house!!!!!!! In an area of Birmingham that if you stood long enough to try to photo the building, your shoes and socks would be stolen!!!
So...on asking a few people I dared to speak too...I found out where the local sorting office is, and although by 9.30pm it was shut, it hopefully won't be in the morning at 5.00am when I go back into Birmingham to try to get all mail stopped fom being given to what may well be, a corrupt postie as well as a corrupt ebayer!!!!
the visit then to the local police station didn't really do much apart from make me feel i've done all I can.
They won't give me a crime number, as I crime has not yet been committed!!!
They won't send a policemen to watch the postie try to deliver to the address...for what it is worth!...I mean...what honest postie would hand over a parcel to someone stood outside an empty house with grass upto the window ledges!?!?!?
Putting it plainly....they really wasn't that interested!!
so what now.....
apart from trying to get the mail stopped at the sorting office by speaking to the manager and taking his name, warning him that as the building is empty I EXPECT the parcel to be returned to the return address on the label!!!
I can sit and type a long email to Ebay and Paypal to warn them............
BUT DO YOU REALLY THINK IT WILL ACHIEVE ANYTHING......
ME NEITHER!!!
I shall just learn from my mistake....
NEVER send the purchased item to a new ebayer with no feedback, for at least 7 - 10 days after they have paid, unless they can offer you a checkable landline to the address given, or fax you proof of their address like a gas, electricity, phone bill.
ALWAYS do the checks on other purchases that a new ebayer is making, loads of BUY IT NOWS instantly after joining is just not the done thing!
BE PREPARED to take a negative feedback from what could be a corrupt ebayer before you take a spanking from PAYPAL for the item you just lost!
Don't get me wrong though, I think PAYPAL is a great way to get your money safe and quick from 99.99% of ebayers out there, and its a must have for successful ebaying in my opinion......
BUT AS WITH EVERYTHING AS IT TURNS INTO A GIANT!! IT HAS NO CONTROL OF ACCIDENTALLY SQUISHING THE ODD PERSON AS IT RUNS OUT OF CONTROL!!!!Click COLOR=Red]HERE[/COLOR to participate in my latest finger exercise program!!0 -
RussLE - I hope all turns out ok for you. Glad to hear that I started alarm bells ringing - maybe you get chance to sort it out. Keep us updated.
Paypal had the cheek of emailing me today telling me that my account has been in negative balance for 1 day and asking me to put funds in as soon as possible.
They also emailed me to say that the reason they gave my money back to the buyer was because I was not covered by the sellers protection. I have emailed back saying that I am well aware of that but could they let me know on what grounds they returned the money - ie item not received, bought on stolen card, item not wanted etc. Am going to keep trying until I get more than 'possible fraudulent means'!2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j0 -
Paypal have just retracted the money....
WHAT A SURPRISE!!!! :rotfl:Click COLOR=Red]HERE[/COLOR to participate in my latest finger exercise program!!0 -
So precisely what area of Birmingham are we talking about here? And which sorting office?
Kate0 -
It was a group of houses found behind 120 Ombersley Road, just outside the city center to the east of Birmingham.
The sorting office was on Walfor Road, which was about half a mile away.
Get this.....
I rang through to the Manager of the sorting office today, and he remembered the guy coming in yesterday morning with the card left by the postie in the house, and collecting two parcels!!!
The whole caper stinks to me!!
I didn't even tell the guy the house number before he told me the parcels had been collected!!! Explain that?
and why would a postie put a "Missed You" card through the door of a obviously empty house, then take them back and leave them to be collected.
Mr Chand's answer to that at the sorting office was that he may be collecting mail from his old house!!
DO THAT NOT LOOK UPON ANYTHING AS SLIGHTLY SUSPICIOUS!!!
Stinks........Syinks.....Stinks!!!
Call it over the top...but I wouldn't be shocked if the parcels ever reached the pathway of the house!!!
Luckily my warning emails stopped two other ebayers sending the goods!!!
that makes me happy against my loss!!!
