Okay..it's fair enough that whatever the circumstances the staff should never be rude to customers. however- my main point was, when people have obviously gone over board, buying 10 or so giftbags on several different days in order to get maximum profit from this offer, then that too is unfair. It's fine to want to 'grab' these bargains caused by mispricing, but you can take it too far.
The people that were mistreated have every right to complain, but i have no symapthy for those that feel 'robbbed' because this offer is no longer going through the tills as before.
There has been a similar discussion on here about such matters in the past.

I too don't really care that I didn't get the points as I have already bought some med stuff so I am not going to buy it for the sake of it...It's just the attitude of the staff that got to me.I have only bought gift bags on one occasion last week and thought I would try and get some more today as I think they are great for my daughters party bags...I would of walked away with no points today if I would of known what I would be going through with the shop assistant and manager..It's not as if I took advange of their mistake I only visit boots once or twice a week if I am lucky!!!

Today i bought 10 gift bags and 4 face masks from a boots store and handed over a voucher along with a meal deal voucher (for relevent products) and other items bought. When no points were given for the med products the supervisor was called and explained that 1 coupon per transaction! so we refunded and went back to the machine got 14 vouchers and attempted to purchase them individually. This of course did not work however after some backward and forward trips by the assistant i was eventually given the points by manual override after i calmly pointed out that the bags and the masks were not minitures.

The manager realised the loophole but honoured the vouchers anyway. All staff were very courtious and a pleased to say all was resolved.

It was not merely for the points that i did this - the girls in my class will now recieve a gift for end of year this year - subsidised by boots. this may seem to some to be exploiting but they should have checked all variables of the offer and how often do they make massive profits from the lots of stuff we buy with no offers on it!

Can you elaborate on why it is unfair for people to shop in Boots and take advantage of their offers. Does it matter how many bags people have purchased in one go or in total? Are you annoyed you didn't buy enough of these while it lasted?

I think we can assume that in general a certain type of person reads these forums and like most of us we love a bargain and even more so a loophole that only MSEs know about. Most other people that I have told about this site constantly say to me, oh I can't be bothered with all that to get a few quid off but most of us here can and I am of the opinion that for those who can be bothered, do want you want, and buy what you want.

Ok, fair enough Boots have obviously withdrawn all or part of this offer, we could all probably guess that from the way the vouchers were missing between Tuesday and Friday. It was good while it lasted but to suggest that people took too many bags in one go is utter nonsense. Is it wrong for us to buy things in the sale? I bought some stuff yesterday with 90% off, Boots are losing money on that too, but then that's their problem, just lately how many times have we all gone into Boots and seen a big pile of clearance stuff (mine has 2 aisles left). Absolutely nothing had the prices marked, either on the shelf or each item. I told two members of staff that if they price it up clearly, they'd sell it quicker, they couldn't have given a toss. No doubt that stuff will sit there for another month or two.

Boots should either fix this particular voucher to have it used on only certain products but then clearly display which ones. The store I visited on Monday had no bags on the shelf, in fact it was unclear whether that branch had even stocked them. Yesterday, not only had they got about 100 bags on the shelf but someone had added a shelf sign that said MEDITERRANEAN ORCHID GIFT BAG 32p. When I queried no points on the 1 bag I had bought I mentioned this, the supervisor made no effort to check this out, to remove the sign or to do anything but argue about it. In Tesco they would have bent over backwards to help you, give you your money back, told you to keep the item, apologise and then remove the wrong sign!!

I think I should have realised something was up when I walked into the store, went over to the advantage card machine and on the ground was a basket with about 50 gift bags in it. I looked down at it and said to hub. oh well I guess that offer isn't working now! ;)

Well said Charlotte :T I was starting to feel guilty about buying all the bags I had but If it hadn't been me then it would have been somebody else. I also spent £40 on their Natural collection bath range that same day saving myself £40 as it was on BOGOF, was I taking advantage of the store then ? I think not. The biggest problem here from reading some of the posts is the appalling customer service given by Boots staff.

I agree, the majority of Boots staff are very rude. Having said that, the young girls who work there are generally very helpful. Maybe they havent been there long enough to let the bad behaviour of the older ones rub off on them !!

I am currently pursuing a complaint against my local store manager regarding her behaviour, we will see what happens ....

just a thought - do the staff get a yearly bonus based on profits? maybe that's why they're so keen to make sure they don't make a loss when we find a loophole to exploit?

Just come back from Bradford store and thought BONUS they were giving the vouchers, but no bags. I even asked at the counter for them to check stock.

i managed to get some reduced shampoo and conditioner this morning in Bristol and i had 4 vouchers and the lady on the till said "they will all go through with the extra points" as i had offered to pay for each one individually, when she put the vouchers through only 1 lot of points came up she was most apolgetic and then added manually the other 300 points.
I think I agree that the younger staff have a much better attitude and dont seem to take it personally when we get a bargain
just on another thread they also had more of the scalextric sets in the Broadmead Bristol store this morning, she said they only arrived in with yesterdays delivery along with some other items for the toy sale, so i bought another one (£6.48 with my 10% voucher) and a pinball machine £2.70 with 10% voucher
    ADOPT DONT SHOP......🐕🐕🐕🐕
  • They still have vouchers for 100 med points at the North Shields Silverlink store. Loads of bags and face masks too. Spent £4.52 and got 900 points.
