Why didn't I think of that?? Thank you, it's certainly worth a try and if they don't like the images I can try the library. I did used to have a scan app on my work phone which was great but that was a while back.

Easy not to! I started using photos instead of scanning for work expenses and then realised that most people/systems can't actually tell the difference. As long as the document is legible, that's all that matters. It still annoys me that people email me things that they then want me to print out sign, and scan to return via email. Either post a form for me to post back and don't assume I have a printer/scanner or use an electronic signature tool.

Lots of logs moved here, with help from the dog. And a neighbour has relieved me of half used bags of plaster, cement, and lime, as well as a whole lot of insulation board and a pile of bricks. Must drop him a note and ask whether he wants the radiators before I stick them on FB.

I should go out and strim, but another neighbour is burning something vile in their stove (they do this regularly, frequently on nice sunny days so we all have to have our windows shut/can't hang out washing/can't use our gardens). I've reported to the council as it makes it hard to breathe. Mind you, they're reported regularly - stop for a bit, then start again. No clue what they're burning but my bed is old telegraph poles!

Booo to resisting the pun @Rhyddid2026 😂

To my mind poached eggs on toast with avo and cheese is the most elite brunch there is

I have caught up with steps and f&v, and finished my autumn vinted listings pile! Our new area is annoyingly free of people randomly dumping clothing so going to have to plot new ways of getting a few extra quid...

@tiredofthis Yes, as KintsugiWhippet says, one step might not seem much but it is still a step in the right direction. If your life is filled with overwhelming stuff, it didn’t arrive overnight - it has been building up for a very long time, and it’s going to take time to create even pockets of order amongst the chaos so please be kind to yourself and congratulate yourself on even the smallest success. I think even making the decision to take control is half the battle, and everyone here is so supportive. I wish you lots of luck 😁

Last year I acquired a beautiful large octagonal Corten steel (the deliberately rusty stuff) planter on Freecycle. Yesterday I cleared the last few weeds from the flower border where it is to be placed and it looks great. Today I’m meeting a friend for coffee at a big garden centre so will be looking for a camellia - hopefully an end of season reduction - and a bag of ericaceous compost to fill it with.

ah, someone mentioned The Spacemaker Method and it may have been you, @KintsugiWhippet - I’m slightly addicted! I find them very soothing, but probably spend time watching them when I should be doing things. There are some useful tips though, like just doing one area, and having “departments” for things.

I have this morning and sometime tomorrow to finish clearing my spare bedroom, so that all the furniture can be moved out for a new floor to be laid. I’ve talked about this for so long I can’t believe I’m actually doing it! It’s going to be pretty awkward for the two days while the work is happening, but so worth it. It’s been a good opportunity to get rid of books and Stuff.

Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.

I hadn't heard of electric tricycles!

I had a nice relaxing weekend at home after going out Thursday and Friday last week. I like that it is cosy season now. I sat on my sofa with a blanket and read a good book yesterday. The Lake by Catherine Cooper. It was set in an old stately home and it felt very atmospheric.

Someone told me about a jacket potato oven the other day and I just ordered one for myself from Amazon. I have been craving jacket potatoes and soups now the weather is colder. I have the last of my homemade lentil soup to have today and I will make another batch of soup tomorrow.
