Autumnal Achieving

I finally got around to booking a dermatology appointment yesterday for myself. I wanted to have a checkup as I have family history of skin cancer.
I also made up a donation bag to take to a chazzer before my class later.

I had an unexpected autumn achievement on Sunday - I sat in the garden reading for an hour with my back to the sun before cracking on with tidying it, and noticed serious tan lines before getting into the shower in the evening!! I progressed with my garden labours yesterday evening and need to do what I hope is the last lot of digging and planting this afternoon. There is still quite a bit to do, but it looks neat and I look forward to seeing the fruits of my labour come May next year. The light has changed visibly now and the weather is about to turn, so I think it is time to put my patio set back into hibernation in the shed.
@greenbee - how did you get on with your shredder? Which did you buy, and would you recommend it?
@Brie - I bought the Tesco daffs, they seemed a bargain compared to other stores. I've looked at The Range website - the tulips look lovely albeit pricey.

So much to read, so little time.4 -
I finally posted a work package that has been sat by my front door for more than a month. I also returned a broken Amzn package.
I failed to post the letter to the council from the start of September but I have it in an envelope and I've bought stamps.
I have such a blockage with posting stuff, it's bizarre!!

I have a similar problem Rhyddid2026, not least because the local post office has been out of service for over a year now.
The scrap man arrived and took far more than I expected, good result and they are coming back tomorrow for the rest of it. I should now be rummaging through the garage to see what else I can find for them to take. I probably could have sold some of it but it is more likely that I would be paying the house clearance people to take it away in a few weeks. The are round the garage looks so much better.

@redofromstart I wish we had a local scrapman. I dread having to clear my mum’s house (which will happen in the next 9 months). My parents kept everything just in case. That is going to be one huge OAT.

wow! that's wildly inappropriate!! hope you told him it's no different than you telling him he has a resting <rhymes with "tick"> face.

I am clearing my own house ahead of selling up, but the late Mr Redo was a full scale hoarder. Not a local turn up at random scrap collector, I invited this one to visit because I knew there was enough to make it worth his while, and they agreed once I sent photos. Once I have everything I want out then I will be gritting my teeth and paying a house clearance person to do the rest.

Well done on the scrap @redofromstart
@Rosa_Damascena - I've unpacked the shredder but not used it yet! I'm still dealing with grass having borrowed a neighbour's strimmer to get it down to a height that my mower can cope with.
Today I have managed to cook the BNS for Stinky (but with the skin on - no clue where the veg peelers are) so can do his kongs and lick mats, take my mum out for lunch - so warm we sat out in the sunshine for a couple of hours and had a lovely lunch in a cafe in the village I grew up in, mow and rake the area I strimmed yesterday, realise that I don't have anything organised to eat this evening…
Plastering the utility room tomorrw.
Have just ordered some doorhandles so hopefully I'll be able to shut the pantry and utility room doors soon.

@Brie your comment made me laugh. I was thinking of male equivalents at the time and muttering the rudest ones under my breath quietly. He is never going to change and by the end of this month he will be history as far as I’m concerned. But role model to the early career people he is not! Off now to face the madness again.
Does anyone else remember the days when the best you could hope for when walking past a building site or road workers or lots of other male groups was ‘give us a smile, love!’? My colleague’s observation reminded me of those times. I used to dread that everyday humiliation.
Happy OATing!4 -
@redofromstart my local British heart Foundation do house clearance - they charge for it but they take money off based on what they can sell, dunno if that is any use where you are.
