took out the recommended Halifax '0% for 22 months with 3.5% fee' card... .. but have only been given a £500 credit limit - Apparently because I'm a new customer
I recently got a Halifax One card with about £6k CL as a new customer, so there's probably another reason why you've only got £500.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

Hi all,
My Oh has a run up a Vanquis credit card to the tune of £1725.45 this card is awful the rates are so high. My OH is not good with money at all if its there he spends it! I have now taken control of all of his finances. I think his credit history is okish but not perfect, I thought it best to do a balance transfer to a 0% card I looked through the info on this site and Capital One looked the best way to go. So I got him to apply he requested the balance transfer of the whole amount - the card came through for a limit of £500 never at any point was he told he couldnt have the transfer. Now what is the best thing to do? should I transfer £400 of the Vanquis card over to the Cap One card or is there a better way to go?
Any help would be great guys I really need to sort this out for him - thank you0 -

Why? Egg credit cards were transferred to Barclaycard last year.

This is my first post so be gentle with me lol. I hope it's not a stupid question....
Can a person transfer a balance from a credit card account in another person's name? I.e. If my other half and I were trying to sort our finances and I would get a better deal than him, would a credit card company allow me to transfer his debt onto a 0% card in my name?
Thanks in advance!0 -

In short, yes no problem. All they ask for is the card number etc, they're not bothered about whos name it is in.
The reason for this is becuase it is irrelevant. As far as they (and the law) are concerned, once you have transferred the debt onto your card the debt belongs to YOU.
So while it may seem a good idea now, many many people have been stung in the past after relationships have broken up and they have been left with thousands of £££ of someone elses debt.
So yes its possible and may seem like a good idea on paper, but make sure you really think it through0
