  • Hi folks

I saw the posts about the 17 month Barclaycard 0% offer earlier in the thread, and asked Barclaycard to take a look.

They have confirmed that the offer as we describe it is definitely on and available to apply for to everyone who meets the minimum income criteria. If you have trouble, try applying online, or asking for a different customer service rep.

    Cheers,

  • Hi, i'm new to balance transferring so need a little help please...?! I'm looking at buying a cheap car and putting it on my credit card, then transferring the balance straight away. I've only been looking at trade sales because of using my credit card, but the bargains are in the private sales. If i withdraw money on my credit card to buy a private car, can i still balance transfer or do they have to be actual sales on the card to be able to transfer the balance? This is probably a really stupid question, but as i've never done this before i'm not sure of the 'rules'!

    Thanks :)

Someone else will be along to give you more informative advice but what springs to my mind is "do you already have a second card from another provider that you can use for the BT and does it have enough available to BT what you pay for the car "

As I understand it all that matters is that you have a balance on the first card and how you achieved that balance doesn't matter whether it is a cash withdrawal or a purchase .

guys, a little tip from someone to loves to travel and shop! The Halifax Clarity credit card allows you to use your card ANYWHERE in the world, and they do not charge any fee / commission at all. No charge for the card itself either.
But interest is charged on cash withdrawals immediately they are made. Still cheaper for cash than most (all?) other credit cards. Unfortunately, you're not allowed to pre-load it.

  • Couldnt you time payment and cash withdrawals to counteract each other more or less. In these days of mobile internet banking cant you can just pay off the card right away.
It takes two or three days for the payment to clear and the cash withdrawal interest will come to pennies.
  • I applied for the 17 month barclaycard deal and was accepted with a £7k credit limit. The card literally arrived on Saturday and I set up the online managing system and activated the card. It wouldn't let me transfer my balances online so I rang up to do it today.

They advised me they have closed my account as I no longer meet their lendng criteria?? Anyone else had a similar problem? I was twice put through to the fraud department which I also cannot figure out.

    I am not very impressed!

I don't usually spend more than I can afford to pay off at once on my credit cards, but this Christmas I have. So, have just applied online for the Barclaycard Platinum so I can transfer balance, it went through and I was accepted but after reading this forum was unsure. So phoned up and checked and the chap at the end of the phone agreed it had gone through at the deal as described.

Am, really pleased but will have to rein in my spending now - usually I am so good.

I have a number that I used which starts 0800, I thought it was a freephone numbe can anyone verify.
I asked the guy on the phone and he was evasive about whether the call was actually free - confused :(
