I know that feeling went for 4 days without leccy about 18 months ago.

The funny thing was Scottish Power came round to tell us the power would be off for a day whilst they replaced a number of poles over a few local farms. Before the replacement date came there was a storm and quite a few poles came down. When I chatted to the neighbours we discovered that none of the poles that came down were on the list of ones to be replaced…..lol.

At this time of year our biggest risk is blown silage collection shorting the wires and/or pole transformers.

Supposedly some people were running scripts to ensure they got a code each week, ruining it for everyone.

These scratch cards seem fairer but the rewards are a bit tragic… A small bar of dairy milk, really?

I've still just got the codes and even though I was up at 6.40am this morning, Nero codes gone as usual. I did however get a free Greggs coffee offer, not sure if I'll be able to use it before Sunday. First time I've ever got anything from Octoplus, so if I end up switching next month, it won't be a big loss!

The scratched was in addition to the normal perks. Scratchcard Monday managed to get a Nero coffee Tuesday.

I was at the postoffice at lunch watching a slightly weary man a little bit drunk buying £20 of scratchcard announcing to everyone he always buys them as he won £100 once.…made me think what a bad decision this is from Octopus normalising gambling.

I got that, we enjoyed it melted and drizzled over some stewed apricots (which came out of a TGTG bag last weekend) and greek yogurt on Monday evening. No complaints!

I also claimed my presumably final weekly free hot drink this morning in the shape of a tea from Greggs - I never got up early enough for the Nero ones once they became super popular, but was easily able to claim the Greggs ones one day or another.

All in all, that little lot seems quite MSE-friendly to me!

I returned mine, it was an ice lolly that I'd have to drive 3 miles to get from a supermarket and presumably eat it in the car before driving 3 miles back, hmmmm, I get that the coffee was unfair, but they could have released them at intervals to make it fairer, I'll miss my free coffee, £3 a week savings adds up....

I've now got a thing saying my scratchcard is on its way on Monday, so it's definitely not just people who always used the weekly rewards. A few times in the past I got a Caffe Nero code (before they started all running out every Monday early morning) but then when I've occasionally tried since they'd all gone. I don't get to leave the house often so I'm not anticipating being able to claim whatever I get anyway 😄
