Afternoon all. Another day at DD1's looking after DGD2 (and the dog too today). Even hotter than yesterday so I just sat in their fairly cool lounge reading. I just had to be there, not actively do much. I did a washload before I went this morning and I've got that in and put it away now. I'll need to water the pots later when the sun moves over the house. Tomorrow I am looking after DGD4 for the morning as she has an inset day.
And that's all x

Evening,
So was up at 5 yesterday to bake the scones which went down a storm for the team. Recipe to follow.
By the time I'd walked home from work even I, who loves the heat, was a tad warm. Love cool leather furniture in the summer. Did 1/2 hour exercises with DH and then he heated a reduced pizza he had bought for tea. I am still trying to close the loop so that nothing is left unfinished so dishwasher loaded and put on, and the hand washed bits were washed dried and put away. Sink was given a quick shine along with wiping the cooker as DH never sees (or ignores) the fat splashes he makes when frying bacon. Then early night.
Was up usual time this morning and worked from home. Lunchtime I emptied the dishwasher and put it all away and reloaded with anything used this morning. Then worked extra until 7pm to finish a big piece of work which hopefully will mean no more involvement for me (weirdly pleased that I was named several times in the grievance 😆).
Salad for tea with some HG new potatoes and pork ribs from the freezer. Again closed that loop and didn't leave anything unfinished so kitchen and dining room are looking good.
So have now caught up with thread. Massive hugs and healing vibes for round and a big Hi to Suffolk Sue.
Gonna finish my can of cider then hit the bedroom for a bit of reading before I snuggle down in the heat with the windows open back and front for the blow through albeit I then have the noise frm the street but heyho.
But first before I go
Orange and Ricotta scones (makes 6)
- 175g ricotta
- grated rind of an orange
- 100g caster sugar
- 200g SR flour
- 50g butter
- 1 - 2 tbsp milk
- demerara sugar for sprinkling
Oven 200c or 180 fan
- Beat orange rind into ricotta with half sugar
- Rub butter into flour and rest of sugar
- Stir mixtures together to get a soft (but not sticky dough) adding milk if req'd
- Knead just a couple of times and shape into a round about 4cm thick
- Place onto a baking tray (greased or using parchment/baking paper)
- Brush with a little milk and dprinkle with demerara and mark into 6 wedges (i made these quite deep as they do rise a bit)
- Bake 20 mins until golden and risen (mine took a bit longer but probably as my oven is a dinosaur and doesnt keep great temps)
- Serve with jam and cream or whatever you fancy, I used mascarpone with my HM jam or passion fruit curd
Enjoy if you make them. back when I can

Afternoon all. Obviously still far too hot but I swept up in the garden early on and cleaned the bedrooms. Had DGD4 for the morning as they have an inset day so we went for a river walk and then coffee and cake (she didn't have coffee!). Came home to see three young blackbirds gaily flinging all the bark chippings off my front border onto the path, presumably looking for "stuff". Left it a bit then swept it back so they can do it all again later.
Had notification that my parcel had been delivered. Yes, to next door who gave it back to the courier because it wasn't for them and so now it could be anywhere (courier beginning with E). Complained to the courier and the sender. Not holding my breath.
Hope everyone's OK x

Twot 🥵
Made the bed, fed the birds, put out the recycling, and topped up the birdbath and the hedgehog's dish.
Checked the nhs app and my appointment at Hull on Tuesday was still showing 🤦♀️. Rang the appointment centre to cancel it. Then rang the Care Coordinator to make sure they knew that I was having surgery on Monday and would need a follow up appointment - but not until after I'd been discharged from Grimsby. Note to self: do it myself. It's easier on my nerves. Sorted now. Surgery on Monday. And Hull will send me a follow up appointment.
Enjoy your holiday and I hope the brain scans don't show anything sinister Jazee.
And breathe....I was quite calm this morning. The mix up has done nothing but upskittle me all week. Muttley muttering.
Tennis anyone? Watching not playing. Did I mention it's twot 🥵

😂😍 Love it, round!!! - I assume nobody noticed, or they were kind enough not to mention it! I hope you laughed about it too xx
We are home safe and sound from North Wales. It was a long, hot journey with lots of queues of traffic on the many single-lane roads. We stopped off for lunch at an NT property which we have visited many times before, so were just taking advantage of a predictable light lunch menu and large iced coffees to cool us down.
I have thrown open the windows in the hope that the house will be a bit cooler overnight, and I've started the 2nd load of WMx at least 3.
On Tuesday we get to do another long journey to South Wales, there and back in a day, for a family funeral. I hope the temperature drops a few degrees by then.
I have been asked to become godmother in August to the now 4mo brother of the ADHD- and autism-diagnosed 7yo girl and 6yo boy who are currently my youngest godchildren. Their mum and dad have got their hands full, but they are brilliant with all the children. I wish I could help them more, but they live the other side of Millennium City. However, Dad used to come to my church so all 3 baptisms have taken or will take place there. I must ask if they want me to make a cake to share with everyone after the service - we usually serve coffee and biscuits, or cake on special occasions.
I must sort out my finances before bedtime: I need to pay the gardener who came while we were away, and work out how much I owe L the dog walker for Rosie's B&B.
Tomorrow morning I have an appointment for routine b—b squashing. It's really twot for that sort of thing.
Hope everyone has a calm and restful weekend xxx

Morning all xx
I'm not too far from the East coast and it seems cooler here this morning 🤞. It was foggy earlier. I stood at my bedroom window watching the birds - including a robin who stayed a while on my fence.
I'm up, made my bed, taken my meds, turned over the calendars, and made a brew, which is going down nicely. There's nothing quite like the first brew of the day 😊.
I completed the nyt puzzles at around 2.30 this morning! It seems to be my new normal to be awake in the early hours and then drop off again. It's OK. I'm calm, just awake. The anxiety seems to hit early afternoon which is bizarre but I allow myself to feel whatever I'm feeling and breathe. Yesterday I watched both on the Wimbledon Men's semi finals, because I could 😊
iona - I didn't see anyone yesterday so my transgression went unnoticed. And yes I laughed. It seemed symbolic. Maybe we should all wear out clothes inside out when life throws us a curve ball. 🤔
I will plod through the Saturdailies today, but my priority is to pull everything together for my overnight bag to be ready for Monday morning. (I wouldn't have unpacked it last month if I'd known I'd need it again so soon.) My friend, J, is coming for a cuppa this afti - and bringing cake she says. Nom nom.
Tomorrow I will plod through the Sundailies plus take Sassy to J's for her 'holiday' and stock up with soft foods.
And on Monday DS will pick me up at 6.40 am and off we go again.
I like to have everything organised in my head. I'm surrounded by chaos though. And that pile of Admin isn't going to sort itself! Maybe a few 10 minutes sessions will conquer the beast. Bills are all paid, but I haven't checked a bank statement for months - other than a cursory glance to ensure the final balance looks 'something like'. Not mse at all. Tut tut. 😳
Have a good day. Stay hydrated. Love to all.

Hi everyone,
Cloudy here but still warm.
Yesterday I did no flying other than closing the loop on everything I used and wiping down the kitchen surfaces.
Today the dog had me awake at 5.45 so I got up to let her out then fell back to sleep for 1/2 hour on the sofa. Since then I have done a lot of scrolling, reading short stories and not a lot else. Cooked myself a breakfast for a change (as I had run out of my dutch pancakes) and have only just got washed and dressed.
Plan is to go into town and see if I can get some trainers to add to the Rayban's I have bought him for his birthday next Saturday. Blees him the last pair he had, I bought him for his 19th birthday and he managed to drop them a couple of weeks ago and broke a lens. They did well though as he will be 34!
I also need to return a can of deodorant as it is nearly full but wont spray and whilst it is only a small amount of money its the principle. Will also catch up with Dad at some point. Most of the house is still looking ok so will just need a flick of the duster freshen up and hoover before I decide whether to tackle my office or bedroom.
Not sure if I will get a request to help with the kids tomorrow as DDiL may need to be marking and DS is now back to working shifts.
Just got to find my cash stash then I'll be away to town.
