Barclaycard Online Servicing now closed

Yes, not quite true though.
I have been using the Barclaycard online service fine until yesterday (I've had a card for over 40 years). Then I got the "been replaced" message, trying to push me to the App, but I refuse to use financial apps on my mobile - and I still keep an external sreadsheet of my spending, so want it available on my PC. Attempted to register with the main Barclays online servicing, as suggested, but that failed… twice. Then called the "Customer Service" and had to endure over 8 minutes irrelevant robot claptrap before actually being able to speak to a human, who then took well over 10 minutes trying to get me registered before giving up and promising to call back in "the next 24-48 hours". 18 hours gone now…. still waiting.
Totally abysmal service - whoever planned it whould be shown the door (I am an ex IT project manager). If you change a service, you must replace it by something the customer can use. If you offer an alternative, you should ensure it works before cancelling the original. This action is all in Barclays interest, not mine, so If it was not for the rewards I get on my legacy card (up to 2%), I would cancel my card completely.

^ They replaced it with something people can use, at least in the meantime, takes a few seconds to get the data off the app for your spreadsheet, but you chose not to use that service
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No, they took an opportunity to push their other services, I chose not to buy and they planned no fallback.
BTW, well over 48 hours now and no callback, so much for their promises.

As I said, they have given a fall back, you choose not to use it

I have paid all mine off there is no cashback outstanding as it was the yearly anniversary and it went on my last bill, I have also taken the account off Paypal. I still have had no notification about it closing, I went on there just now to check it was all cleared and nothing on there about either, I shall cancel it sometime but I have to ring up, there was no way to cancel it online. I don't want to have their app as I only used it for Paypal.

I closed my account using the phone and the bot. No problems. I logged into the old system yesterday to collect what will be my final statement showing the account as being paid off. There was popup telling me that my account had been closed and that I had x days to collect my transactions and statements.
My Nationwide replacement card is fine. I already have a Flex Account and a Regular Saver, so I have one less login. I will lose a small amount of cashback, but stoozing will leave me in profit for a while. After that, the simplification should be worth the lost cashback.

As an update, my access problem has still not been resolved, nor has anyone contacted me nor suggested a fic date. When I replied to the same anonymous SMS number that acknowledged my complaint, I was told "We're working on it, be patient." When I chased an update I had the exact same rerply, when I complained, my complaiint was not acknowleged.
So I made a formal complaint and had acknowledgement, with a complaint number, via a no-reply SMS message. It said someone would be in touch "shortly". After a week I sent another email via the same process as the first complaint - no acknowledgemt of reply…. nothing from Barclays since 27 August.
Customer service is a joke.

The email they sent me states:
If you’d like to register for Barclays Online Banking, we’ll need to confirm a few details with you first. Call us on 0333 200 9090 and we’ll let you know what information we need.
This sounds like we can keep web access if we jump through some hoops. I am planning to call them because I am not sure I will be able to use their app for much longer. I am guessing most will just leave it as it is but at least some must have asked to keep their web access.

Reregistering on the barclays account page not working for me. Just getting an error code.
Dunno if its because I used to have a barclays account a few years ago which I closed, just keeping the separate Barclaycard account.
Can I be arsed trying to sort it?
The reason I closed the bank account is that they were/are by far the worst bank for customer services I've ever had to deal with.0
