Looks like H&S regs still insist that any mobile use on fuel forecourts will cause cataclysmic fireball. Never seen a contactless reader on a fuel pump.

Fine on the EV chargers 30 feet away.

Pumps at my local Asda are contactless. Always use my phone, no fireballs so far!

Our Tesco forecourt only accepts contactless with a physical card. Since being caught out when the kiosk was also closed, I now always carry a backup card separately. Although I use my phone 99% the time.

You can nominate one card for "travel express" and then this function works as long as Apple recognises it as a travel operator. The places where this work can be found from https://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#apple-wallet-transit

Note that one other advantage of this is that it will continue to work for several hours after the battery is already too low to turn on the phone, unlike other ApplePay transactions.

Apple's list aside, Express Transit definitely also works on buses in Cornwall and Manchester.

The one near me is the same, they had banners up a while ago saying the pumps now accept Google and Apple pay. I always fill up using my phone or watch.
