Quiet few days, no major spends. Current account balance is £175 to last just under 2 weeks. Will be tight!
So bloody hot, averaging 32-34 🥵 so I’m mostly to be found in front of my fan…

Quiet couple of days… mainly been chilling in front of a fan! It’s been 30+ for days and forecast shows this will continue until at least Friday 👎🏻
I’ve got up early today to go for a walk before it gets hot. Think I might do this all week as I’ve been getting cabin fever 🤪
Our current account is at £135 to last 12 days. It’s been such an expensive month. We’ve actually got £100 in cash too which should be in our account.
When our kids have birthdays, they often get money from family… some transfer straight to their bank account 😇 and others give cash. Kids don’t want cash, so they give it to us to then transfer. But I don’t want the cash either 😂. It’s a faff to pay in as we bank with monz0 and what usually happens is husband uses it when he goes to the pub instead of using personal money.Anyway, I was mean yesterday. He went to take £20 of the cash as he was meeting up with a friend and I made him transfer it 🤭

Have you asked family members who give cash to transfer straight into the kids bank accounts? If not, it might be worth trying that.
As to your DH using the cash instead of his personal money I think he should definitely transfer the money and not just use the cash so I don't think you were being mean at all making him transfer it. If he's just taking the cash and not transferring it that means he's having more than his fair share of personal spending money! I say good on you for making him transfer it.

Do the family members know how to bank transfer (or could you teach them?). We have this with my parents (in 70s & 80s) when theyve given my kids (in 20s) cheques. Cue - what's one of them? What am I meant to do with that? - lol.
You have had a few unexpected expenses recently, hopefully no more heading your way.
It's been unbearably hot for days. Im.currently enjoying a small breeze thru an open window before the temps rise later.

Well done for sticking to your guns and making him do the transfer.

I think in total there are 7 people who give money, 4 transfer and 3 give cash. They’re all older and have no interest in learning how to do online banking sadly. We have an agreement in the family that gifts stop after 18th birthday, so it’s only the younger 3 now.
Yeah, I said to him whoever wants the cash can transfer the money. He didn’t mind, but I think he thought I was being a bit penny-pinchy, We need petrol soon so I might use the rest of it for that 😏

We also get cash gifts for the children quite often. Luckily we have a post office near by, so we often just pop in there and pay it in. As long as you have a debit card, it goes straight into your account.
I still hold some cash envelopes in a tin too. If it’s not too much money, it’ll go in one of those and gets used for the next family holiday or birthday expense.PBs £2050 (including £1k EF)

We keep a little stash of cash at home, usually from when one of our Mums has paid us for something we've picked up for them or, like you, from kids birthdays. If one of us uses it for personal spends we also transfer the equivalent from our sole accounts back to the joint account so I wouldn't say you were being mean to your DH, just effective budget management 😉

Thanks Dakota and DITR
We’ve tried keeping an emergency stash in the past and it just got frittered 👀
Another chill day today, went for a walk first thing and then have just relaxed in front of a fan the rest of the day
