Welcome to the forum!
opted for fixed direct debit
That'll be where you went wrong. Fuse don't want their customers to have a debit balance on their account, so if you've chosen a fixed DD they'll increase it now to ensure you build up credit before winte comes around.
Stick with monthly variable DD and you won't have this problem.

No that's what i signed up for
I want a fixed DD so that I know that whatever the month I know exactly how much I will be paying. Fixed payment that they can change is by definition variable. And the contract terms made no mention of this
So Ombudsman complaint to come

Doubt you'll get any luck with the Ombudsman if Fuse hasn't broken any rules. If you submit a monthly reading and monitor your usage in a spreadsheet you'll know exactly how much you'll be paying. In fact, when you get a smart meter, your IHD will tell you how much your current month's bill is, in addition to the previous 12 months.

Probably right but it's the principle
If a Company offers either variable payments or fixed payments, I expect the fixed payment to be exactly that

If someone starts paying an equal fixed monthly based on estimated annual usage divided by 12 going into colder months highly likely would end winter in debt, Why should anyone have energy on a use now pay later basis.
Whether Fuse have new information would depend on whether property meter reading history suppliers can get from database tallies with usage information someone states when they sign up to switch.

Fixed DDs are always subject to review. It's unusual for that review to take place in the first month, though.
Is your tariff fixed, or variable?

No such thing as a genuinely fixed DD and never will be; the more you use the more you pay. Usage varies with the weather, the seasons and umpteen other things. It's a stupid term because it also gets confused with a Fixed tariff.
Equalised, Smoothed or Averaged would a better name.

Well my unit rate and standing charge in the app this morning are EXACTLY the same as yesterday, and ive even been back and looked at my August bill to double check they dont add VAT on afterwards (they do not).
They have had weeks to tool this change in and their AI chat bot doesnt seem to understand the issue.
Anyone else got the same rate this morning?

Well I finally got more sense from a human who has escalated it but would be interested to know if ANYONE is seeing the reduction this morning.

Yes I can see it in my Fuse app. Both the unit rate and standing charge has reduced
