Fuse energy
Interested in real life experience of using Fuse Energy please.
My fixed deal with Octopus ends next month and their renewal offer has considerably increased rates, so I am looking around for alternatives.
Via a comparison site Fuse energy looks like a good option so I thought I would take a look at their website and pressed the ' get a quote' button. When I did this it only gave prices for gas although the comparison site listed both gas and electricity.
I contacted Fuse via webchat and they assured me that they could supply dual fuel to my address and to continue with the quote process which I did, on the next screen it asked me for my bank details to set up a direct debit without me even seeing how much they intended charging me.
I continued on webchat and they assured me that if I decided not to switch then the DD would not be activated.
I still hadn't got a price for electricty and the Web agent said that they couldn't find my address as it was a new build -It was built in 2002. They then asked for my MPAN so I inputted that and it came back as unrecognised and the then asked for a picture of my meter.
At this point I finished the process as it all seemed a bit unprofessional to me. Octopus have been supplying our property for a number of years without any trouble identifying us.
Have I just been unfortunate in my experience with Fuse? I could just proceed with a switch via the comparison site but want to avoid unnecessary problems with setting up the new supply.
Anybody have any comments on using Fuse and any problems with the switching process?
Thanks

If their system can't find your MPAN then you may well be opening a can of worms by switching to them.

Seeing something similar - only seeing Electricity on Fuse. It's unclear where the issue lies - other suppliers offer dual, but the switch tariff option in the Octopus app also only shows Elec.

Follow up to this, I have quoted the MPAN number to Fuse that appears on my electricity bill from Octopus. I have tried checking online to see it the number is recognised but it isn't
Am I ok to post the number I have on here so someone can comment or is that a bad idea?

It's uniquely linked to your address, so you probably don't want to share it on the internet forever.
Who was next cheapest after Fuse? Could you try switching to them instead and see if they're happy with your MPAN?

What type of meter do you have?

I've seen some posts elsewhere mentioning just seeing Electric on the first screen so mine might be a different issue. Uswich brings up annual usage figures so that's another way to check whether it's some database issue.
Once in the past I found my meter was recorded as prepayment - likely an error from when a new build - and so I couldn't switch. It's up to the current supplier to correct the details - back then it took a while but they covered the amount I lost out by the delayed switch. So suggest contacting Octopus if you can show incorrect database info.

Thanks for the replies. The meter is a smart meter fitted by Octopus, there is a date label on it from 8/3/24
I am guessing that there is no central database that I can access which relates MPAN to property address?

Ok, just had a closer look at my Octopus bill and the MPAN they are quoting seems to have 22 numbers rather than the 21 numbers I believe it should have.
I could try ignoring the first character or the last character and see if that gets me anywhere

Here's what the format is meant to be:
Where's your extra digit?
