Halifax to vanish?

I expect they will just restrict new applications to the Lloyds brand, let any under the Halifax brand continue and then eventually move everything to the Lloyd's brand. From what I can tell Lloyds and Halifax are virtually the same behind the scenes, so they just need to remove the window dressing that makes them look different.

Same as Virgin / Nationwide for me I suspect!
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

For me, youvov would never accept my account as they had accounts that operated on 2 different systems due Northern rock & clydesdale & I had an account on the wrong system

Not sure if previously mentioned, however, I have just logged into my Halifax Online Banking and there is a banner stating that nicknames for accounts will revert to the original account name soon in Online Banking.
In app, you will still be able to view and edit the nicknames. Weird scenario, but I am sure we shall all cope :)

There was a bit of a discussion about it here when the banner first appeared.
My take is it is another of the nudges LBG are giving customers to use the app instead of online banking. Or a nudge to switch to a bank which doesn't make such pointless changes.

So eventually my Halifax debit card will change to a Lloyds one & my account will be branded as Lloyds current account with letters & statements have Lloyds logo on it

Lloyds haven't confirmed anything yet, but if the story is true then that's the likely course of events. Lloyds may well have leaked the story to test the water regarding peoples feelings.

I think there is too much detail for it to be a test water leak.

Well maybe doing that will get them to see peoples reactions
let’s see what happens0 -
Lloyds, Halifax and BOS Rewards are now all the same and linked paying into one selected account so you can buy on any of the group cards. Not sure what happens with single use offers which could previously have been doubled up on each bank.
