Halifax to vanish?

They are pretty much identical now except for the colour scheme and name, so I can't see that using one name and colour scheme is going to make much difference to anyone.

Just to say, the text in quotation marks above is mine, but the reference to the 'r' word was made by @M25 in an earlier post (I'm a bit less comfortable these days in using that word in contexts that aren't dealing with sexual assault, however I'm well aware there's a legitimate lexicographic debate that can be had about that).

Don't get me wrong, I think it's probably more likely than not, I'm just highlighting the fact that it hasn't actually been confirmed yet.

It might have one consequence they don't expect.
If they rebrand existing Halifax account to Lloyds, I will ask them for a cheque book.
Ok, I'm only about half a book past still having cheques in the name of Halifax Building Society, but you never know ...

If they decide to keep the Halifax name, now I know why.

Your £500 blood money from N&P is still out there wouldn’t it be better claiming and donating to charity

If Halifax customers become Lloyd’s but they continue to have FSCS protection based on the BoS banking licence, that’s going to be a bit of a mess. Feasibly, customers will then have two different types of Lloyds account and so realistically, they can’t just call them both Lloyds accounts otherwise it will be a lot more difficult for customers to know which banking licence they are coming under.

That would be a right mess. It would also be unfair, because some customers would get more FSCS protection than others. E.g. Bill only had Lloyds accounts so he only has £120,000 protection. Sam had accounts with both Lloyds and Halifax. After the migration they are both branded Lloyds accounts, but he gets £240,000 protection. Bill would be right to kick up a stink about it.
