Halifax to vanish?

Incorrect. You can now only hold one Lloyds monthly saver or Club Lloyds monthly saver, at next renewal.

When did that happen then?
I've missed it…..

Its a fairly recent development. Lloyds changed the T&C's sometime in May I believe without saying anything about it

Posters on the regular saver thread first spotted it 21st June

Yes, RBS is just as toxic.
When the !!!!!! hit the fan in 2008 most people -worldwide- were rightly focused on the monstrosity that was RBS but the BoS was no better really. The management had their heads in the sand for years.
These were good brands but so were Clydesdale and TSB and they mean nothing now. If they mean nothing to nobody I don't see the point of them being here. That's the problem any other business would have disappeared years ago. Lloyds will want nothing to do with the BoS brand.
I was in my usual BoS branch the other day and they had a sign up saying they were closing and refurbishing for 2 months and that people could easily "Visit the nearby branch" [30 miles away]. Almost Orwellian.
That particular branch (I don't know if other BoS branches are like this) is where they impolitely accost you like a bouncer at the local club when you go in to try and direct you to those cash deposit machines by asking "What are you doing today?"
It takes all my powers to not be impolite and say it's none of your !!!!!! business 😁
As for the local Halifax staff (who work at the Halifax HQ) I feel for them but they need to speak to their aunties, uncles and parents and ask them why they took those filthy bribes from the Bank of Scotland that destroyed their futures.
Lloyds will shut that base just as soon as they can.
Obviously.
We can't do without banks and we're going to have much less of them.

There will certainly be fewer branches but most people never use them anyway, however there has probably never been more choice of banks then there is today.

Thanks, though I'm not sure that you've clarified why you stated BoS, specifically, but not Halifax, was toxic to your mind.
(Edited to remove my misunderstanding about whose business it was none of)

I don't think M25 was directing that remark at you, they were expressing what they'd like to say when BoS branch staff try to find out what they want so they can be directed to one of the machines rather than the counter/a human.
Hopefully M25's powers will remain strong, as responding like that to a member of staff would give BoS reasonable grounds to stop M25 banking with LBG.

Yes, on re-reading, you're correct. My bad.

It's not just BOS where this happens, with good reason. If there's a long queue, then directing those who could be serviced by a machine, and possibly helping them to use the machine, speeds up service for everyone.
