Halifax to vanish?

That was a weird quote because there is no such thing as a Lloyds Clarity credit card. The Lloyds equivalent card is called Lloyds Ultra.

Yes, you will have multiple Lloyds accounts.
The ex-Halifax one will still work exactly like it did before and keep the same account number, etc. but it will just have a Lloyds logo instead of a Halifax one.

There isn't a Lloyds Clarity Credit Card now, but it sounds like there will be when the Halifax cards are changed to Lloyds ones. They will most likely keep the Clarity card as a closed issue; existing customers can keep their cards, but new customers can't apply for it.

Over time Lloyds and Halifax have both changed and met in the middle.
Lloyds have taken a number of the Halifax ideas, which has made them better than the stale old-fashioned bank they used to be.
But at the same time, Halifax have watered down many of their benefits and so now there is very little difference.1 -
I agree, that would be what I would expect too.
But why did it not just say customers will keep their accounts unchanged, for example a Clarity card will stay as a Clarity card?
Saying like-for-like replacement implies that a change will occur. The like-for-like replacement for Clarity would be Ultra.

I presume you mean the Regular Savers? My assumption (based on nothing but a hunch) is that they will allow both to continue until the first one matures, then you will only be allowed to keep one from that point onwards. Doing anything else would be a bit unfair IMO.

thanks for the info let’s see what happens

With Halifax to BoS, they migrated all the Reward products to classic accounts and didn't attempt to grandfather them.
I'd expect minimal retention of legacy Halifax products as Lloyds and BoS were always stronger brands outside the Yorkshire area.

I’ve just ended up opening a bank of Scotland account funnily enough I wasn’t credit scored in anyway to open it. 👍

I saw the writing on the wall for Halifax as soon as they did the 'snazzy' Lloyds rebrand.
Both Lloyds and BoS service business customers too unlike Halifax.
