Can't have the bed doing the East to West thing - window and build in wardrobes get in the way - we were South to North - so have tried it the other way round - time will tell.

As for the potato peeling soup - it's a bit of a throw together but smells gorgeous - peelings from tonights roasties along with 4 carrots, 2 large leeks, the remainder of a head of celery (about 2 inches), some mixed herbs, a portion of veg stock from the freezer, half a bottle of flat cava and a couple of garlic gloves - the left over peas and green beans from dinner went in too and the whole lot will be left in the SC until about 9pm (so about 6 hours) and I'll blitz it up tomorrow.......is it me or are all the best tasting soups the "throw together, never to be recreated" ones?

Well, we have just finished our supper, Roast Chicken, spuds, parsnip, cabbage, carrotts and braised leeks, stuffing and gravy, followed by bananas, creme caramel and a little woops of cream................delicious....

Wen out for a walk this morning, it was cold!!!! enjoyed it just the same.Put towels in the washer before we went and put them in the dryer when we returned, so everything is washed, dried and ironed.

This afternoon I worked on some small thankyou cards and a couple of embroidered inserts. I now have all my birthday cards to the end of June made.

Also did some research on our trip for next January to Florida and New York, think I may have found an hotel, as long as the dollar does not move too much in the mean time, although, as it will be our last trip 'abraod' I am prepared to splash out a bit.

Plenty to watch on TV tonight, so off to sit an veg infront of the TV................have a good evening folks...........

    Hiya!

Finally managed to get on the computer. Well the girls and I had our last big lie-in today and then I made some croissants for our breakfast using the chilled pastry from Aldi. I even got to read the paper.:D
I've been busy 'sorting' things today, writing lists, doing some school planning for next week and stripping our bed.

DH arrived home at tea time after his drinking reunion in Essex last night and I think he really enjoyed meeting up with some of his old friends. Think it might become an annual thing!
I made a gammon pasta bake for tea using some of the £1 joint I picked up in Asda. I think I'll end up getting about 7 meals from the meat. I just need to think of a few more meals I can make with it, any suggestions? I thought maybe chilli and possibly a curry?
DH and the girls are back at school tomorrow and I return on Wednesday. Looks like my bonus ball in work has come up 2 weeks running so there should be about £64 waiting for me when I go in. It's good timing as a couple of my friends will be celebrating their 40th birthdays so it should cover pressies for them. :D
Tomorrow's plan is to take girls to school, check parents house is still ok while they're in Oz, take a couple of catalogue parcels to the post office, do a small food shop (try to stay inside £20) and then ...
    BLITZ the house properly.

I'm off to shower DD2 and then I'm going to watch Sense and Sensibility. My last Headteacher used to teach David Morrisey when he was at primary school in Liverpool. He used to write a big panto style music show every year and David Morrisey was one of his big stars!! So there you go!:D

One week into this new regime and still learning. This money-saving could be a full time occupation in itself!

I'm sorry that so many people are feeling poorly. I've had one of my best weekends in memory, just pottering, clearing things up ad out and getting a couple of fab Freecycled finds - including a nearly new wine cooler / mini-fridge and a complete set of 'Wally's World' magazines in their binders. Sons and husband are all Freecycle converts now and I've finally convinced them that it's 'good Freecycle karma' to give some things away rather than trying to flog everything.

Lunch today was a budget bargain - lamb neck fillet from post-Christmas clearance counter at Mr Ts, along with some very soft carrots, half a home-grown parsnip (donated by MIL), half a squash and onions ... and the first crumble to grace Scottie's table for many a year. DH as quite disparaging when he saw it come out of the oven and one son insisted that he didn't eat damsons. But DH asked for seconds and aforementioned son later lodged a complaint that he hadn't had as many 'plums' in his as anyone else, so could I make him another one tomorrow?!

The clearing up hasn't got as far as I'd intended but we've all enjoyed pottering around together and Hubby's been inspired to move some furniture around and have a new look with no extra spend around the home.

The kids start back at school tomorrow but I don't as I resigned from teaching at Christmas. I need to get on the phone tomorrow and work out the next step as no amount of money saving will help us if I can't bring some wages in this month. (Tempting as it might be to spend my days searching for bargains and tips on here!)

Right! Off to do a meal plan and iron some school uniforms.

Good Evening Everyone! Have been reading the whole thread - it's taken ages! I think it sounds as if many are nearing the end of the poorlie phase - hope I've got that right! Odds - I sympathise over the pain killers - I can't take lots that are supposed to be really effective; they just make me throw up, which is worse than the pain! Hope it eases soon. KuneKune - I think the advice to post an SOA on the finance boards might be good - people over there are experienced in spotting little cutbacks that can make all the difference. Try not to worry too much. Will the school not offer some after school clubs that might be suitable for your DS on at least some evenings? My friends with chn. at secondary school seem to find there's quite a choice.
And how did I not see the party??? Mind, an early night was all I was fit for really. Massive (((HUGS))) to all who need one.
Have not done too much today, as am, still feeling very much under par - exertion makes me breathless! Others might just say I've had a lazy day!
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!

    Evening everyone
well the bathroom never got touched in the end as we ended up out all afternoon.
The kitchen did eventually get cleaned up and we had a lovely tea, i did make the wedges and stirfry with spicy pork and after costing it i was really pleased, it was about £1.20 each thats one meal that i`ll be doing again.
i`m really tired now and am thinking of turning in soon and doing a lot of things in the morning, i need to be up early to get loads done as DH is back at work and if i get up early enough and get organised i should get tons done, gawd knows the cleaning needs doing lol.
I`ll be back at work Tuesday so if i don`t get things done tomorrow i`ll really regret it.

I`ve seen a food flask today, well 2 actually one was Stanley brand and the other was aladdin, has anyone got one of these and if so how long does it keep food hot, i was thinking of taking porridge/soup to work with me and if they keep things hot for long enough i will get one.
Hope everyone wakes up feeling better in the morning and that most of the colds/flu/bugs are gone.
    Night!

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
