HSBC FR ISA Cashback

As Friolento has mentioned, they (HSBC) have a holding account. This was confirmed to me today in branch, not explicitly but still its another thing that delays the complete transfer.
If you think about it, its odd in that ISA rules are quite stringent? But they are allowed to hold funds in a completely separate account.
We'll get there in the end.

The ISA rules aren't stringent regarding the exact mechanism and route(s) of getting funds from ISA A to ISA B - they were written in the days when sending pieces of paper was the primary method, but even for electronic transfers, it's perfectly legitimate for institutions to use holding accounts en route. This is particularly prevalent when funds are being sent to institutions who either use intermediary clearing banks and those who use roll numbers rather than sort codes and account numbers in standard banking format, although neither of these would apply to HSBC…

I opened my HSBC Isa on 31/3/2026 to be funded with 2 ISA transfers from other providers.
All funds now in place as of yesterday - 6/5/2026.
I dread to think what it will be like trying to get these funds out, on maturity, if it's this difficult trying to get it in.

Thank you. I’ve located your earlier post, and the YBS letter displays only the last four digits of the HSBC account number, which match those you mentioned.

I don't think there is anything stopping you from funding from an external account and in actual fact it is probably the best way to guarantee that you get the promised cashback. The reason I am not doing it this way is that we are getting quite close to the deadline and there is always a chance that transferring cash in to a new account for the first time may hit some unforeseen snags causing me to miss May 11th date.

I requested a transfer almost a month ago - just phoned Vanquis who said they have had no communication from HSBC at all despite my relationship manager saying he was keeping a close eye on it ! This really should be publicised. I will also be making an official complaint .

Ditto one of mine .…Shawbrook.

No comms re either one to me from HSBC.
Truly shocking!

just received this on the chat on app - I asked for details of complaints procedure which they wdnt give me immediately but have now raised a complaint! They are saying allow 70 days for transfer!

Usual transfers would take up to 70 days? May be for S&S ISAs, but not for cash ISAs.
The Government guidance for ISA Managers states "Cash ISA to Cash ISA transfers must take place within 15 business days of the transfer instruction being received by the new ISA manager, unless the investor stipulates that the 15 days starts on a later date"0 -
…and, stronger than guidance, it's mandated within the legislation itself:
