Applied and opened a fixed rate HSBC ISA on Sunday 19th April 2026 with a request to transfer £25,000 from Yorkshire Building Society.

Email and accompanying PDF attachments received from HSBC on Tuesday 21st April 2026 confirming fixed rate ISA account opened.

No further communication until an email from Yorkshire Building Society on Thursday 30th April 2026 to say I had a new secure message to review. The YBS secure message is as below.

As of today, Wednesday 6th May 2026, just waiting for YBS to action the transfer, as per the timescales mentioned in their message above.

Did you ask YBS how and when they sent the funds - faster payment, BACS (takes 3 working days), cheque?

I'd wait for the details from YBS, which you will hopefully have in a couple of days, and assuming the funds can reasonable expected to be with HSBC by now, then raise the complaint with HSBC.

Thankyou. Unlike the member above I have had absolutely no correspondence from YBS at all, I'm hoping my secure message is replied to at some point today.

On the YBS site my ISA is still there but has been put in an easy access ISA.

See how (if) things pan out.

    Got a text from HSBC:

Thanks for your recent ISA application. If you asked us to transfer an ISA and it's not yet completed we're working on it with your existing provider.

I had the same text just now

In my case, the old provider has provided me with evidence that they have transmitted my funds by Faster Payment on April 21, using sort code, account number and Reference as requested by HSBC.

Their text message is quite simply untrue.

    Yes, same here.

As mentioned in my previous post, YBS are still working on my request to transfer funds to HSBC. I would imagine that funds could transfer the end of this week/beginning of next week.

    Me too.

However, I have also found something else out. I have messaged YBS to check they have had the request.

Apparently by putting in sort code, account number the request would be immediately rejected.

ONLY the 10 digit roll number has to be entered. This may be a YBS thing but as it delays things by at least a week I will pester HSBC about it in branch tomorrow as the forms need to redone.

It may not actually be YBS's fault - in fact it probably isn't!

I was told by my existing provider that my ISA transfer was delayed as HSBC have to issue some sort of completion notice before the funds can be finally transferred. HSBC apparently are supposed to do this within five working days - but it took more than double that before the transfer happened.

My current provider completed a transfer to Paragon - from the same ISA account - within two working days (from my request to Paragon to the funds appearing in my Paragon isa). When systems are efficient - there should be no delays!

From what I can gather, HSBC are instructing the old ISA provider to transfer the ISA not to your actual HSBC ISA but to an HSBC collection account - sort code 40-04-43, acct no. 79007156, with your actual HSBC ISA sort code and account number as the Account Name, and an 18-digit Reference generated by HSBC.

Whether HSBC do have an automated process to transfer the funds from their collection account into your actual ISA, I don't know. I do suspect though that it's a manual, or semi-manual activity.

All I know is after messaging YBS (thought that might be a better option) they said no request had been received.

However they then contradicted themselves by saying with the 'unnecessary' sort code/account number the rejections are instant so who knows if they even HAVE a record of that.

I won't say this to HSBC as its not in my interests but it does seem a little odd that YBS does this, seems a natural thing to put in those details.

HSBC reckon they applied for transfer on May 1st which is correct though why that was left stagnant I do not know.

    Hey ho!
