we had a text this morning from some friends asking if they could pop in as they were in our area. Well that certainly put a rocket into orbit for myself and MrBC. Keeping up with flying every day certainly made it easier and in an hour the house was looking visitor ready.
I'd already stripped the bed so I changed the bedding, s&s the bathroom and dusted the hall, stairs and landing. DH did the kitchen and lounge, hoovered and also went out and bought some bits for lunch. We are now relaxing with a cuppa in our show home 😇

Well done Black Cats. It's a rather marvellous feeling, isn't it.
(((Hugs))) Narco. We're all getting older and it's a sobering time when peer group friends go on that final journey. It's not like we feel old, either.
I managed to score a couple of L!dl 2good2waste boxes yesterday - there were at least 20 and I hadn't had one for months so I splurged. Today I have made a kilo of carrots into three massive carrot cakes and iced one, the other two will be sliced and go in the freezer, banana bread, a tomato thing to go with our burgers tonight, lamb burgers what were planned for tonight but benefited from some of the shopping yesterday (a Mary Berry recipe I'm trying), sorted out the other half of a French stick to go with French fish soup next week, and stewed a couple of kilos of unripe plums. Tomorrow I'm planning on making some saurkraut for the first time with the massive cabbage. I have no idea what to do with the eight lemons, other than give one away, but I think there will be lemon drizzle cakes tomorrow that will also be sliced and go into the freezer. All of that has used up some of the foodstash that I'm working my way through. I feel a sense of achievement when I throw an empty container out - today two oil bottles finshed, and a bag of self-raising flour hit the bin.
I can't remember if I posted that I vacummed the whole house on Wednesday, or that someone has said they'll pick up a futon this weekend I've been trying to get rid of for months. If they don't it'll go to one of the other four people who wanted it for free. No takers at £10 and it saves me taking it to the tip which would be a waste. Wren has nibbled the woodwork and Twiggle sleeps on it so there's a fair amount of pet hair around it, all of which I've been honest about in the Marketp1@ce post; Twiggy even showed of her climbing skills in one of the photos so it's not like I've tried to hid anything.

thank you Honey Bear. Your cooking extravaganza sounds amazing - the carrot cakes sound delicious and healthy too.

Evening all,
I did make the cookies and they were very much appreciated by the team, and the usual office staff. I did however continue to scoff them and they are no more (I think I had 6 at work today but I did skip a proper lunch!)Freezer teas tonight which I will finish clearing away in a sec. I then need to do the financials for the month as it was payday yesterday.
Tomorrow I am going to Ely to get my hair done but just checked the train times to find out it’s replacement buses and takes an hour and a half to get there. I am not spending 3 hours on buses so will have to drive so that will take up most of the day. I then need to finish sorting DD’s birthday box for Monday. Once that is done flying will commence and I will be able to catch up next week as have some leave, although Monday is kiddicare both kids so am already starting to arrange activities for them and Tuesday I have to take my Dad to get his new to him car which is about an hour each way. I might even get the Christmas decorations put away which are still in boxes in my bedroom waiting to go into the eave spaces. Oh and I need to get Easter eggs too!
I feel my list will be huge next week, fun and games 😆

@Narc0lepsy The rescue horse is settling in fine. She is a cob and has come to us via the SSPCA (only 4 years old and has already had a foal, which has been rehomed to someone else)

MMM glad the horse is settling in well.
- posted Mum's gloves and Easter card on my way to garage.
- Took car for MOT (it passed). Looked at a small ecar and got some quotes from salesman. Eek.
- Mr N and I then did some friends' flying: first visited friend newly out of hospital and arrived as they delivered her a hospital bed, so we sorted out bedding etc and made it up. Then went to visit another friend who has poor mobility; after a chat with him, we left taking umpteen bags of rubbish to his bin as he can't carry it himself and his helper seems to have disappeared.
- Started knitting 2nd glove in the 10% alpaca wool It is beautiful but thicker now the weather is improving a bit, so I'm not sure who I will give them to; should resist keeping them myself.
- Paid road tax on car.
- Went to zumba
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
It's tough getting rid of the past but it does free up space for the future.8 -
Morning all
I have some Denby crockery that I use every day and some wine glasses that I don't because they are beautiful and they don't make them any more. Some years ago a local lady put on FB market that she was clearing out her parents house and had a Denby tea set, extra mugs and some other bits. This matched some Denby that I had bought new. I ended up with the whole box for £15. The teapot alone would have cost £60. I use it every day and would be very upset if it any of it got broken.
I have a cold, and a horrible cough. Don't really feel ill just a bit bleugh. I have made a big effort at micro-flying this week which has helped with the state of the house.
I must get on with office re-organisation and decorating this weekend. My office needs finishing before they come to knock out the LR fireplace or the mess might send me into total meltdown!
Have a good Saturday all x

Morning all. I was woken by the sun at 6.45, and we have a beautiful blue sky. Long may it continue!
(((Hugs))) and GWS wishes to YL x
Strokes to both horses, MMM 😍 Rosie adores horses because she knows that if she sits still as they pass us in the lane, she will get a treat!
I wouldn't like to spend 3 hours on buses for the sake of a hair-cut either, kaz!
HB, I'm looking forward to having time for another proper braising and baking session. Though they're convenient, I'm getting a bit fed up with batches of the same freezer meals: I could do with a bit more variety but am not feeling inspired atm.
My flying achievements have been few and far between this week, but at least I have passed on the pile of FH research; printed out Easter cards and inners for invitations to a church event (not until 19th, so not belated); paid for my green bin for the coming year; taken my car for its MOT (like Narc0's, it passed 😀); decided to allow autorenewal of my car insurance in April as the quote for this year is within £3 of last year's price and I cba to scour the internet to find a better quote; maintained a clean kitchen and bathroom; made my bed every day; and kept us all fed and watered. I've even hoovered/mopped a couple of times, but the dusters have hardly seen the light of day.
However, things have to change this weekend (reminder: so do the clocks!)
DD and DGS1+2 are hopefully coming up to see me on Wednesday or Thursday (or both) and DS1&co are also involved in the meet-up. I shall have to do some proper cleaning all through, and tidy the study/spare 'oom so that DGS1+2 can make up their beds. I've got boxes of photos spread all over the spare bed, which have been there since Christmas. Covering them with a blanket has kept the sun off but also hidden the semi-organised piles of memories waiting to be culled further (a.k.a. mess), so that I have not felt compelled to get on with the sorting. I must stop doing other people's family history research and get my own house in order.
DS1 has offered to come and do a few hours' work one day after Easter, as I have a number of small jobs that need doing - e.g. about 3 weeks ago DH changed the lightbulb in the security light outside the front door, and he hasn't done anything more about it since. He is sorely lacking in DIY skills, and the days are past when I could do almost everything myself.
Onwards and upwards! I shall make myself a second cuppa before tackling the admin pile. Hope everyone has an enjoyable weekend xxx

Morning all xx
It's been a loooooong week at the paid stuff. Long story short: the pleasant interlude has ended and Toxic Towers is once more toxic. Ten more pay days! But apparently that's me 'threatening ' retirement!!! It's not a threat, it's a fact. 1st February 2027. And it's a Monday which feels very right somehow.
On the plus side I love my Thursdays and Fridays working with the Macmillan Nurses. I'd like to retire and return in February keeping just those two days - and the Nurses and their Team Leader are all in favour of that and have said they'll support my request. We'll see.
As usual the only flying done on paid work days was: make the bed, feed the birds, and put out the recycling.
And now it's weeeeekeeeennnd woot woot. I've made the bed. I'll have another brew and then make a start on the Saturdailies.
Love to all

well I now know I have sufficient breath to satisfy a breathalyser. I might need a new Vallimobile though - but i am fine as is my friend (which is the main thing). And I won't be featuring on traffic cops…and kudos to the witness who stopped and who rang 999.
the lad who hit my car when he pulled onto the traffic roundabut I was already on needs to learn a lesson - calling his dad who is - and I quote - 'known to us' while offering to pay for the damage - ie not go through insurance is a massive red flag. The police were lovely. I suspect the vallimobile will be written off.
Today I shall be dealing with insurance.
