I missed the 5.6p fix that disappeared at the start of March by a few hours, went onto their 7p var E7 instead which is due to become 6p from 1 April due to the ofgem/govt changes.

However the 9p fix that appeared at the start of March looks like it will be 7p from the start of April. So a dilemma, stay on the 6p or lock in 7p, 17% higher.

    I think....
  • UW - also not happy. Electricity only home (E7) here and the April '26 changes mean: unit day rate drops 21.2%, unit night rate rises 77.6% and standing charge rises 7.9%. Overall, based on our peak & off-peak usage its an increase of 6.7% for usage or 6.8% of usage & standing charge combined. So much for cuts…

The government discount will also be be skewed as a tariff increase for me.

I'm on the economy 7 Value variable (day: 40.988p, night: 6.632p) which is due to change to (day: 33.425p, night: 9.462p) on April 1st. I use about 80% overnight averaged year round, probably closer to 40% overnight during the May - September period.

Decided to stick with Utility Warehouse by taking the 1 year Fixed Essentials 80 energy only tariff today at (day: 37.281p, night: 6.885p). It will give me a small day drop for the summer months and preserve my reasonably low night tariff for next winter.

I have also just switched to the 1 year Fixed Start 80 energy only tariff. I didn't realise you could fix without taking extra products. West Midlands Region: (day): 36.621p (night): 6.916p, SC: 56.972p. That works out just £21 per year more expensive than my current 1st Jan prices based on 1150kWh day and 4300kWh night.

I too am switching to  Fixed Start 80 to protect the off peak rate (82.7% off peak use for me). Just need to wait for their whatsapp to open this morning.

Looks like it has now moved to Fixed Start 81.

Annoying that there's no switch online option for existing customers. I phoned them to switch and they said mine would start from 1 April but I've not received a confirmation email of my prices yet even though they took me through the legal bit confirming the rates on the phone.

I should have guessed. I just did the phone call and it is V81 now. Day rate is higher from v80 but night rate unchanged. S/C is a bit lower. It changed to 81 today.

For me, getting that 7.006p night rate (inc vat) locked in was important given the increase on the variable.

I asked them to email confirmation of my switch to Fixed Essentials 79, they said they don't have the facility to send emails! Given my previous experiences with their customer service dept, I wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised for mine to go pear shaped.
