Utility Warehouse Economy 7 prices April 2026
Just ran a quote with UW to check the new prices from April. I was expecting a decrease in line with the price cap, but I received a shock!
Currently on the value tariff my rates are:
Day: 40.42p per kwh
Night: 5.697p per kwy
S/C: 53.535p per day
I use 921kwh per year during the day and 5550kwh per year during the night, equating to around 86% usage on the low rate.
So from April, UW's new rates on the value tariff will be:
Day: 31.817p per kwh
Night: 9.493p per kwy
S/C: 59.199p per day
Based on my exact usage, the price change will increase my annual bill from £883.85 to £1035.98, an annual increase of £152.13 😮
I appreciate this is because my night usage is so high, but it is a massive increase.
I may switch to Octopus standard E7 for six months (with a £50 referral), which would save me just under £39 between 1st April and 30th September.
Not happy! 😡

Thanks for the info. As they say, all good things come to an end. Looks like I'm in the same region as you. What are the unit rates and SC for Octopus standard E7 from April?

In the West Mids Octopus standard rates will be:
Day 30.32p per kwh
Night 11.51p per kwh
S/C 52.49p per day
There are no new rates that I can see for Octopus Snug as it is currently unavailable for new sign ups. Having said that, Snug has never been competitive for me as I need the off peak rates running into early morning, an hour moved to the afternoon is of little use to me.
Eon Next is another option for six months:
Day 28.41p per kwh
Night 11.14p per kwh
S/C 59.33p per day
I have been referred to Eon Next in the past, so not sure if I could benefit again.

Based on my usage, April Octopus SVR would save me about £2.50 a month over UW + £50 referral. July will be the kicker with the 15% predicted increase.

How do you calculate annual costs for Agile?

So how do you arrive at £2.50 per month saving?

Edf had really cheap night rates in a few regions few years ago.
Some only lasted maybe 6m - one was it EM maybe a year.
I remember one high off peak user who posts here managed to get edf's cheap deal on a fix before disappeared in their region.
Those uw numbers much more big 6.
Given millions of e7 type homes could be cutting electric heating demand soon, you have to wonder why.
Maybe the sub 10p just a marketing teaser, but I remember one cheap rate night user posting feared wouldn't see the budget benefit on the really cheap cf e7 night rates.
Be interesting to see what happens to other cheap night rates - like as above snug and ev type deals.
Or if this just uw normalising.
