Today I am grateful for getting lots of baking and soup making done first thing, for Pip having a great time up in town at an alternative fair thingy with a friend, for plenty of walking, for cheese and crackers with pickle - yum!

Hope you feel better soon @thriftylass
I am up to 5 NSDs, but today won't be one as I need to go to the supermarket.
I must remember to take the paper and soft plastics recycling, as our doorstep collections don't take these, but one of the supermarkets I visit has collection points.
Other than that, I will need to wash my yucky hair and do some housework, check the greenhouse pots to see if anything is growing / needs watering, and maybe sow some more seeds in pots. I might get my growlight thing out of the loft and set it up 😊
Not a very interesting day but it will be good to get some jobs crossed off my list. Hoping the sun makes an appearance as it has disappeared lately!

Thanks for the well wishes, starting to feel better. Can hear again and just have a tickley cough left.
Tried to make puff pastry covered beef mince pies for last night's dinner but the pastry didn't rise at all. Either it was too warm or the oven too cold. Our 1980 oven only goes up to about 150-160 C (maybe 170 after an hour) Rescued the dish with a level of mash on top instead.
I just realised I list track of NSDs already. I'll check my bank account later, might be 5.
Yesterday, I put a lot of wildflower seeds in the garden and this morning I planted some sprouting garlic from the fridge. I also started some pumpkin and cucumber seeds. Think that's all I do this year, still will have plenty of free fruit growing, just not many veg.

Nothing much has been happening. I keep telling myself that I have to move if I want things to change. Today I went to the library - I now have 13 large print books (struggling with regular print atm). I carried on to the cash machine. My ankle is throbbing. Lots of nags of rubbish and recycling have been gathered, one nasty mess has almost been eliminated and I have hard boiled eggs. Need to do more but it's a start. I also sat on a bench by the Town Hall in the mild sunshine.
It was looking as though Mother's Day wasn't going to happen so I bought myself some Fair Trade roses from the co-op along with the bread and fruit. I will be meeting up with my 2 older sons, their partners and 2 grand-daughters on Sunday the 22nd. DS1 and and darling d-i-l are hosting and it will be a celebration of baby grand-daughter's first birthday. DS2 and darling d-o-l are in the throes of moving preps so DS1 decided he would do a brunch for us all.
Grateful for activity (even if I do hurt now), a party to look forward to and large print books to read.

That’s a lot of books @grandmanerd.

I haven't even been able to get to the library. I had about 6 books open on my bed as I struggled to read the regular print. Started one of the large print ones last night and I'm on page 75. Not a book I would normally be interested in (picked some authors I've not tried before) but it was so easy to read the print. I have 3 weeks to read them but I can renew them twice from home and they no longer charge fines. They stopped during Covid and then decided they weren't worth bothering with. You do get to a point where you can't take books out until you return all the overdue ones - usually that's when I can't find them or I know they're probably under the bed or behind the couch but can't reach them.
Anyway it's one more thing off my list - I can read easily (although from a much more limited selection) and it's so much more satisfying than too much screen time.
I woke at 5 am and have already had breakfast and a shower (did lots of extra grooming yesterday). I may have another sleep if I feel myself drifting off but I do want to get on with things (ankle and other pains allowing me to).
Grateful for feeling awake, working round my cravings and thinking of foods I really want to eat (looked at the SM in season food guide yesterday and I would also like to get some frozen fish in.

Good morning, this sinus infection seems to be lingering, cough getting worse again during the night, but that shall pass soon.
Did my food and freezer inventory yesterday and planned the big shop for today accordingly.
Gosh, that was some hail storm last night, thought the windows are getting knocked out.

Bit difficult yesterday as my knees were creaky then more or less gave up later. I used the walking stick and held on to pieces of furniture (only useful thing about the pet cage). The number of things that are on the floor didn't help.
However I have nearly filled the washing machine. I topped up one of the phones (still need to get to the SM for the other one). The top up line transferred me to a human being (the auto line tried to send me a text and I can't do that whilst in the middle of a phone call). I spoke to a lovely young girl and persevered though the problems - she was in a very noisy office and I had to ask her to repeat herself many times (when the background level dropped we sped through a couple of questions. She needed to ask a supervisor for help with an alternative method of getting the t & c to me via email rather than text but I now have a contract for £10 credit per month, rising to £12.50 next March and £15 in March 2028 (don't think the phone will last that long). We both had a lot of fun defeating the obstacles put in our way by the technology, exchanged pleasant wishes at the end and in reply to saying 'no awkward customers' she admitted she was glad the call with me lasted so long.
In the afternoon I tackled a huge double box. DS3 had unpacked the toilet rolls (not where I wanted, just any random space) and helpfully left the box behind the back door getting in the way of both the back door and the shower room door. It took ages, I had to go and sit down in the front room to rest (I was sitting down to do the job). It had lots of tape on - better than last time as a single multi pack came just wrapped in lots and lots of parcel tape and each of the 8 sides had to be folded multiple times to fit in the bin. Two lots went out to the bin but my legs wouldn't do another trip so there's still some in the kitchen as well as bags/ tubs for 3 other bins. At one point the box collapsed onto the part filled bin bag so the contents jetted back across the floor.
However overnight my knees have unlocked a bit - I am very slow but mobile. I had read another 75 pages of my book so I started a second one (murder mystery for a change of pace). I'm trying to keep calm in the face of the multiple jobs that are part done (WM loading, rubbish/ recycling gathered but not yet taken to the bins, washing up part done but more to do and stuff on the floor which I wouldn't do for fear of falling - my back hurts and I had to grab hold of things when my balance went). I need to prioritise my jobs today.
Grateful for setting up the dd for the phone, getting things done and taking time to rest.
