NST March 2026: The Turtles are revolting!!!
NST March 2026: The Turtles are revolting!!!
Revolution is not usually a spontaneous re/action. It builds up over time, until it spills over, and enough is enough! It is a fundamental transformation and requires planning, focus, energy and a final goal or two.
This month, the Turtles are revolting! But what are we revolting against, and what do we want instead?
We are revolting against: social norms and expectations: should / ought / must; excessive spending; waste of all sorts; institutions; being controlled by others …
What we want: we want to streamline our spending and live joyfully and efficiently without compromise. We want to reduce waste, while maintaining the benefits that come from spending money more purposefully. We want freedom; FIRE; control of our money + time + resources; peace of mind. We want health. We want wealth. And we want a life well-lived. (Add anything you like to the list!)
‘Revolutio’ is a Latin word and simply means ‘a turn around’. A revolution is not an individual sport – you are not there spinning like a revolving door all on your own, not knowing if you are coming or going! We are in this together.
Some people lead revolutions, others sort of traipse along behind in the general group. It doesn’t matter where you would put yourself, we all belong. We are each of us revolting against different things in different ways. Take note of your personal revolts and attack them this month whether it is with war paint and battle cries, or more quietly and subversively!
Ready, Steady, Go! But before you leap into action, check that you are rested, recovered, refreshed.
Eat well and Exercise. No one lasts long in battle without enough good fuel, energy and strength.
Vote for yourself! You are beholden to no one (except perhaps HMRC…) and you do not have to live to please others at the expense of looking after yourself. Remember that ‘No’ is a full sentence. Be true to yourself.
Ooooh, that looks fun! Entertain all kinds of fun and frolics and enjoy yourself. Is it outrageous? All the better!
Live. Thrive. Flourish. Be grateful for all that you have.
Use your time wisely. Last month, grandmanerd encouraged us to do without tech for 2 hours before bed. Gulp! But if you know that you waste time online, set yourself a timer so that you have a reminder to stop.
The sky’s the limit. Dream big. Set some big targets and goals. Those of you without a mortgage or debt – did you ever imagine at the start of the journey that it would no longer exist? Do you remember the wonderful feeling when you cleared it? In January we talked about vision boards, so maybe revisit that idea.
Increase your knowledge and put it into action. Improve one thing this month.
Other people. Yes, they do exist! Be kind, patient, loving. Donate to charity if you can. Keep in touch with friends, send a message, write a letter, call.
NSDs, the backbone of turtle life. They make you stop and consider your purchases. They help you stick to a budget. Aim for 15 this month. Notebooks are essential for keeping track of spending/wants/needs/birthdays/ideas/shopping lists…
The challenge runs for the whole of the month of March 2026.
Choose what you want to revolt against this month. And enjoy your personal revolution!
Do try to post something every day. (I’ve not been very good at this in Feb, so I aim to post more in March)

Don't care if it's just a midlife crisis but I'm ready to revolt, revolt to be myself again. Moved countries 23 years ago for that reason and it worked for a while till I started people pleasing (also financially) and hiding again. No more. Life's too short.

Me please apple. There's lots I want/ need to change (one wobbly step at a time) and I need to shake off the lethargy of the past week. First challenge = Get Myself Out Of The House. I may go to the cash machine (getting very low on cash and it's doable distance wise).

Happy 1st of March.
Today was a spend day. £61 for a new passport for DS and £80 for a single room in the youth hostel in Aviemore. Crazy price for a YH. The dorm was 31 (that used to be a fiver 20 years ago) but that is the night before my first triathlon in 6 years and I'm not doing the dorm again. Still about 40 quid cheaper than the cheapest hotel. But definitely decided against staying the night after at that price.
Also, big shop today. Meal plan made and hung up on the fridge for the family to see. No more "mummy, what's for dinner?" at 5 pm. The meal planning really slipped lately.
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday

Did a humongous shop yesterday, that's us well stocked for a while. Also spend £44 on another night in the YH in Aviemore. Really wanted to stay the night after the triathlon and found the second room cheaper, so went for it. Little treat to look forward too.
Send DS old passport off today and that was another spend day :(. Nearly £10 for special next day delivery !! That better really arrive tomorrow.

May I join again please?
Big shop today and I also bought compost and some other bits for the garden. Lovely sunny day, so I spent the early afternoon outside. I potted shallot sets and dahlias, sowed spring onion seed in a trough, repotted a herb plant that I bought in L*dl with the food shopping this morning, and fed and watered the large pots in a sheltered spot in the front garden. Also watered the pea, bean and lettuce seeds that smallest GS and I sowed at the weekend, in pots in the greenhouse. Excited to make a start on the garden and spend time outside after all the horrible weather we have had.
Less exciting, but I hoovered upstairs, dusted the main bedroom furniture and washed the big bathroom floor 😊 OH put up a mirror in the small bathroom that has been on the floor in a corner for ages.
Finally took the Christmas wreath down from the front door. It still looked lovely well after Christmas, so I left it there. Decided it was now looking the worse for wear and dismantled it. I saved the ring part and the wire for possible reuse, and used the coniferous foliage to mulch my blueberry pots ☺️
I am shortly going to make a veggie lasagne for dinner, enough to last 2 days, as I am working tomorrow.
Someone is supposed to be collecting something from FB marketplace a bit later … we will see!
Grateful for time in the garden, a sunny day and spring flowers 😊
