Don't you just love it when Banks lie to you! Apparantly I do not have a behaviour score and I should contact Experian for it! The obviously want me to pay £2 for a credit report when I know my credit is fine! :mad:0

Also I forgot to say a huge thanks to Marc for his input!0

Hi - is this with HSBC? If so, spin a yarn and say something like you have been into the branch to discuss other products and they said to call up after the 7th of the month to check your behaviour score so it's not a wasted journey; if they offer to go through the app over the phone just say that you'd prefer to do it face to face. I think of a different excuse every month :rotfl:
Also, by witholding the information from you they are not complying with the data protection act. They can't store any personal information about you without you being allowed access to it - some branches may request you put this in writing. but make sure you quote the DPA1998 so that you've covered your bases.

how much would you keep as a baseline in your account to increase the score? obviously not go overdrawn or into the overdraft. also use the debit card a lot and not the cashpoint machine. have a lot of direct debits which don't bounce. use internet banking and have an online savings account.0

Hi - to be honest, the lady just told me to keep the account in credit. Luckily I had about £5k in savings in another bank, so I paid £3k off my credit card and put the other £2k into my current account - which brought my account back up to a really good standard in 3 months - but my account was in an awful state after the unauthorised overdraft and rejected direct debits.
You sound like you run your account just fine, so shouldn't be long until your score is improved.
I hope that lots of people read this thread and add their experiences as it'd be great to know exactly what we need to do to please the bank so we get better rates on loans/mortgages/CCs etc...!

If you want to know your score, just ask in your branch or call telephone banking - some people are really helpful, others won't give it out. If they don't, just remind them that under section 7 (I think) of the Data Protection Act 1998 you have an entitlement to ALL data that is collected and stored about you - if they tell you that they can't see it, they're lying as it's on the first screen of your customer profile (and no, I don't work for HSBC, I'm just extremely inquisitive and look to see what mine is every time I go in and can see the right hand side of the screen!)
Just spoke to Telephone banking and asked for my behaviour score. He put me on hold and then came back and claimed he couldn't see the score.
I told him it was on the customer profile screen and he said he didn't have the same information in front of him as the branch.
Sounds like he took advice and was informed not to tell me.
I stopped short of threatening the DPA but it seems some staff are told to not issue this information and others don't seem to care.0 -

Hi
I don't know why but they always seem to give mine to me when I call - but my other half called to find out his out of curiousity and they told him he was referring to a credit score for which he needed to refer to a credit reference agency... He explained exactly what he wanted and they claimed they didn't know what he was talking about - it really does seem to be hit and miss with who you get.
By experience, you're more likely to get it from the advisors in the branch when you go in to ask for something.
Hope this helps

I asked them for my behaviour score through online banking and this is what I got in reply:Dear Skyrider007
Thank you for your e-message dated 20 March 2008.
Please be advised that as the credit scoring is both a confidential and internal system I regret we are unable to divulge behaviour scores to customer. This is something that the Bank is not obligated to do under the legislation, including the Data Protection Act.
Should you wish to discuss this matter further, please do not hesitate to contact us on 08457 404 404. Alternatively, you may call into your local HSBC branch.
I trust this clarifies matters.
Yours sincerely
