@AndrewJB So are you now on The Collective Tariff? Or just accepting the credit to cover the price difference to you

I'm on the Switch Together tariff now – the first switch I applied for. It's slightly more expensive than the MSE one for gas but cheaper for electric. Overall there’s little difference with my normal usage. The exit fees are £30 per fuel rather than £50.

The compensation is effectively for the hassle I've had and the delay in switching tariffs.

I believe you said this is the second time the switch hasn't gone through. I would stress that in any communications with them.

just had a follow up call offering me £50 credit compensation as you did.
This time I’ve taken the credit as compensation. I stick with my current fix Exclusive Fix Feb27 v1, which itself was a good deal The Collective was only slightly cheaper overall.
Next time I might not be so accepting 😁

At least you got something out of it. Hopefully the £50 covers the price difference between the tariffs.

I'm in the same boat and an existing British Gas customer who was rejected from this Tariff. I also raised a complaint and have spoken to one of the most useless agents. Basically they have told me British Gas dont have details or control of this tariff at all. I was rejected by an automated process outside their control and there is nothing they can do. I have asked for a final deadlock letter and will report them to the Ombudsman. Those who have spoken to British Gas, what were you guys told?

My complaint is still ongoing. British Gas deny knowledge of the Collective MSE tariff and deny rejecting the transfer. I have also requested a deadlock letter to refer to the ombudsman. Surely someone at British Gas set up the Collective tariff so they cannot just deny all knowledge. Every time the complaint team ring me the line is so bad I cannot hear them or I get cut off so I have emailed them quoting my complaint reference and requested all future communication by email.

Yes this is what happened to me too. It's actually very shocking. These deals shouldn't be advertised to consumers if it's nothing to do with British Gas as they claim.

    Hi

Pretty much the same experience as you and told the same

    Switch was rejected

British Gas customer service told me the same that it was out of their control and to raise the issue with MSE.

MSE say to contact my supplier ie British Gas as an existing customer so went around in circles.
I made a complaint through BG complaints dept they were aware I wasn’t happy. Was offered the £50 goodwill compensation which I accepted. But I could have escalated to the Energy Ombudsman by being given a deadlock letter from BG.
Did they offer you compensation as apposed to escalating ?

I get the impression these tariff deal switches through third parties are simply to lure in New customers.

And suppliers aren’t allowed now to offer cheaper deals only to new customers, the tariff has to be available for existing customers to switch to as well legally

No Offer of compensation on my end. Just we can't do anything. And then they told me to fix on one of their current tariffs which are all much worse. Going to fix with edf and then escalate to Ombudsman.
