I did mine by using my laptop screen and it worked, line up the 3 boxes on the outer edge on the screen to the overlay and line it all up

I was laughing at that when I read the question. Veritasium does a good video on the problem too.
Is the Decoder side-quest broken for everyone else?

Hey now! Let’s not start arguing over interpretation of rules etc.
The only reason I started this chat in the first place was to discuss the various quests, and to share hints etc, similar to the Reddit posts.
So let’s bring this chat back on topic shall we?
For those that have completed all the quests what has been your favourite?
For those that are yet to complete all the quests what has been your favourite so far?
What do you like about the coin?
Do you think the coin could increase in value after this? If so would you sell it or keep it?

The ones I really loved was the one involving the phosphors and the anamorphic mirror.
I am also waiting to find out if the coin missing the edge text is something that is common or actually a proper error.

Hi everyone,
This thread has clearly garnered some controversy, with a lot of new users seemingly signing up just to voice their objections to it. At this point in time, we will not be removing this thread and we'd like to clarify our position.
We do not typically remove a thread or post which contains the solution to a competition's puzzle(s) or question(s) unless there are exceptional circumstances (eg: the competition is for a charitable cause).
The post by Martin about payment for entry (quoted previously in this thread) is in relation to the sharing of competitions that other users may not have entered yet (ie: 'I have spotted this competition, here are the details on how to enter' etc) on the appropriate boards: Standard Online Competitions, Post, Phone & Text competitions, Regular Competitions, Advent Competitions.
This thread was not posted on any of those boards, but on the Compers Chat Corner board. In the description of Compers Chat Corner, it states: "Chat about expired and live competitions, share your comping tips and hints, and ask any questions you have about the world of entering competitions."
Furthermore, the opening post of this thread establishes that it is intended for people who have already purchased the coin to take part: "If anyone has purchased the coin to take part in the further quests and needs help with solving the riddles etc. Please post below:-" Giving users who've already bought the coin a better chance of winning the prize falls under the Forum's MoneySaving remit.
There also appears to be some confusion about edits to Martin's post. A section in it has indeed been crossed out, but that edit was made in 2013 as indicated by the update text underneath it:
The last time that post was edited at all was 15th July 2024, as indicated by information bar at the top:
It is not a recent, non-annotated, unannounced alteration of the Forum's rules indicating that something fishy is going on.
Several posts in this thread have been removed for abusive content, not as part of a grand conspiracy to silence those with differing opinions. The Forum's rules are very clear:
"This is a space to share, discuss and hopefully inform and improve your financial wellbeing, and while we encourage discussion and debate, we value this Forum as being friendly and safe above all else"
"It's OK to disagree, but be civil, keep your tone friendly and don't be aggressive or make personal attacks on other members of the community. Before you post, think, 'could what I have written be read as unfriendly and upset someone?' and/or, 'how might this be perceived/make someone feel?'."
"We want this Forum to be a safe and encouraging place for people to share their experience and information relating to all things MoneySaving. Abusive, manipulative and passive-aggressive behaviour is unacceptable, as is being provocative for the sake of it. Put that energy into MoneySaving instead."
We'd like to remind everyone of the following section of our rules regarding inappropriate use of the reporting system:
"In order to keep our community free from unwelcome posting and unacceptable behaviour, we also rely on the valuable reporting system.
"If you spot a post that needs to be reported, see how to report a post below. However, please don't abuse it, as this could lead to us sanctioning your account."
We understand that some people object to the posting of competition answers on the Forum for various reasons. For those objecting to this thread, your point has been made. Moving forward, we advise that if you wish to have a debate about posting competition answers online, doing so on a discussion board for compers may not be the most constructive choice.
Continued posts criticising this thread, being unkind towards other users on either side of the debate or towards MSE's comping community in general is a breach of our rules and we will take action as required.
Regards,
The MSE Forum Team

The funniest for me was the backward message - I actually thought it was German at first and tried to put it through a translation app haha. The luckiest was the first one putting the coins on the shield I pressed the link by mistake when I put the coins on my iPad trying to figure out what to do and found the shield picture. I’ve enjoyed the puzzles. Most of them followed the same sort of rules as other puzzles I’ve done. Impressed they used GPS and What3words too.
I won’t be surprised if I don’t win - entered to show everyone how bloody clever I am. Have ordered the medals too, which I assume you can’t order until you got through each section.

Yes, the message reminded me of a Red Dwarf episode.

You have made over 3000 posts, you know how to quote, you know how to provide links to that chat but didn’t.
That’s why I questioned it.
Besides that competition was closed (13/03] when you posted it and couldn’t understand why you would refer to that one, when this week’s competition is now for £700k?
I assume you didn’t know about it, I was initially worried that you were withholding this information so as to minimise the number of people aware of it.
