Can Google Maps display the road speed limit?
As heading.
Wee i10 uses Google Maps as its SatNav, and it's very good (even receives messages from other users re cops and accidents...).
One thing it doesn't currently do is display the speed limit of the road you are on. Yes, I know that's your responsibility, and no I wouldn't 'rely' on it, but it's a very useful feature and also triggers you to be more aware of your speed.
Can it be added/displayed?
Ta.

Yes, it's standard when I use it via Apple CarPlay (alongside your GPS-derived actual speed), possibly different if you're using it via other methods:

Thanks.
I'll experiment tomorrow in the car. This is built in to the car podule, and not 'cast' to it from a phone, if that makes any difference?
Seems I go into personal settings - if it has it - and select 'speedo'.
I'll confirm. Cheers.

Just be careful it is not 100% some roads will not display speed limits , a few will be wrong but worst of all with the proliferation of new 20mph limits (at least in Scotland) I imagine it will take a while to catch up.
Overall it is very accurate bit not quite 100%.

It usually only displays speed limits when it is giving directions, and doesn't when it isn't.

You need to use Waze
Life in the slow lane4 -
Remember, just by looking out of the windscreen, you KNOW what the limit is on any road in the country, within 1-200m or so.
Assuming you know that you're not on a motorway…
Are there repeater signs? That's the limit.
No repeaters, but are there streetlights? Yes? Then it's urban default 30 - 20 if you're in Wales. (The one exception is urban 20 zones, which use traffic calming instead of repeaters)
No streetlights or repeaters? Then it's NSL. Count the carriageways. One? 60. Two? 70. (Assuming you're in a car.)
It really is that simple. You do not need your satnav or dash to give you unreliable and possibly out of date information.1 -
One small clarifixation to the above, dual carriageways are defined by separation, so you're not counting the number of lanes but checking that there is a physical divider between you and oncoming traffic. There's a road near me which is two lanes each way with painted lines only (60mph), then goes to a stretch with one lane each way but has a grass verge in the middle (70mph). Catches everyone out.

Only those who don't know the difference between "lanes" and "carriageways".

Judging by the number of speeding tickets issued on that road (and general awareness of the highway codeoerall) I'd imagine thats a significant proportion of drivers!

I get that. It's not a substitute, but an addition.
Been on the B3233? Changes repeatedly from 30 to 40, and repeaters are few and far between, streetlights unchanged. At any particular point, it's hard to know which is in place until the next proper sign comes along. Join from a side road, and no idea.
