Chase
Yes, very possibly your honesty was the cause. They probably would want you to use the current account for more than just funding their regular saver.
I've had Chase CA for a few years and can't remember what I put down, but I wanted it for spending at home and abroad at the time, and may well have put that down, but can't honestly say. I was refused Monzo account about the same time I applied for Chase, no idea of the reason, didn't ask and have never tried to go with them again, my nose was well out of joint at the time.0 -
Well lets hope Monzo release a Monthly Saver and l can put reason for account "everything and how much will you deposit "£2000" per month. That should do it. 😀
On more serious note, my credit score was in the mid 500s after opening a few CA for a few switch bonuses, over the last 10 months or so. Maybe that didn't help?
Anyway lm sure somthing will be along in due course.

The actual credit score would not be, since the banks don't see it, but the serial CA openings may well be.

I was declined a new CA too and don’t think I indicated I’d only be using it for savings. I think the problem (for me at least) could be that I had a Chase account previously and completely closed it - apparently they either don’t want or don’t have the function to welcome people back? Strange business choice all the same.

Do any app based banks allow previous customers back? I don't think Chase are alone in that.

Monzo let me back (at least the first time…..)

As well as Monzo, Starling let people back as well to my knowledge.

Starling & reopening closed accounts - I guess either their website must be out of date or my account must have been an anomaly in that case, as I was able to open a new account with them relatively recently, after having closed an account with them in the past. Weird that their website would say that when (at least some) previous customers are able to open a new account with them, though.
There was also a post here from someone else recently, which reported that Starling opened a new personal account for them when they'd previously had one.

Chase Current Account Declines
I've had the same issue, I got in touch with them and raised an appeal, they have upheld my appeal and said I'm free to apply again but would need to reinstall the app and try applying again.
The reason my application was rejected was that the app is very picky about photos of ID documents, you have to get the photo crystal clear and with very good lighting, if the lighting's bad the application automatically rejects your application and you have to contact them to raise an appeal to get them to unblock your ability to apply for accounts. In my case it kept thinking my passport was a photo of a photo.
I've been stuck in a bit of a loop for the last couple of weeks, I've had goodness knows how many appeals, all successful, but their application rejects me because it doesn't like my photo of my passport.
If you do go down the appeal route, bear in mind one of the first things they'll ask is if you've checked your credit reports after being declined, if you haven't they refuse to let you raise the appeal so make sure you say "I've checked my credit reports with the 3 main credit reference agencies and there's nothing amiss" otherwise you'd have to call them back.
