Yes, you won't be able to open the 8% RS until either your January one matures, or you cull it early by renewing to an Everyday Saver.
Club Lloyds "may" off different perks going forward, but if you're not using the current ones, I cannot see any reason why you can't downgrade until it becomes useful to you again. Me, personally, I use the Disney "perk".

Correct, you can only have one Monthly Saver with Lloyds now; either the Club Lloyds one, or the ordinary one, but not both.
If the Club Lloyds benefits are no use to you, you can easily downgrade it to an ordinary Classic account in the app.

Downgrading takes seconds, as does upgrading if you change your mind later.
I have historically only upgraded to Club when I needed it to apply for the Club RS. Once the Club RS was open, I then immediately downgraded the Club current account, to avoid the monthly deposit needs. Lloyds never had a problem with this. More recently, I have kept the Club current account though, as I like some of the perks. So not sure whether Lloyds have now tightened up and are checking whether you keep the Club current if you have a Club RS. Though it all seems a bit academic now for new regular savers as there is no special Club RS any longer.

It is, I have done it, its just horrendously slow. Your looking at about 1-2 weeks to close, apply and have it opened again.

I've noticed that you have had a rather high number of thanks for this post (17), so I'm wondering if this interest isn't now compounding at 6.3%.

Hanley Interest Payment:
My Hanley account shows my interest dated 31 Aug - being credited and then immediately withdraw to my nominated current account - the details of the nominated account are correct. However, it's now 2 Sept - and I have not seen the amount in my nominated account - and it's not "yet" back in my Hanley account either - is anyone else in the same situation - I have read others stating they have received the money almost immediately. Thanks.

You say "Lloyds never had a problem with this", but I'd got the impression that LBG are a bit finickity with people who bend the rules and can close all your accounts. I guess it's up to you whether you want to take the risk. I wouldn't as I don't want to lose all my LBG regular savers.
The Club current account is less enticing than it was. Previously it gave you the option of holding an extra regular saver, at a higher interest rate, and with a higher deposit limit. There are other perks to the club account but if they are of no interest to you then there's little point in keeping it.
