Yes, it seems to work differently from most regular savers. Effectively if you don't fully fund in one month, then the unused deposit rolls over to the next month. But it sounds like you have to make a minimum deposit of £10 each month.
Skipton and First Direct are similar, except that there is no minimum deposit.
Another difference of the AIB account is that you can over-fund it, extra deposits won't be returned to you but will earn a lower rate of interest. Also it's an open-ended account, but somewhat different from Natwest and RBS - after 1 year the threshold goes back down to £500 and any extra funds won't earn the full rate, so it's beneficial to withdraw anything over £500 and start again as if it was a brand new account.
A nice account to have, but somewhat unusual in its funding terms.

Re: Bouncing 1st September RS deposits …
Strange one this morning. £200 "returned" to Lloyds CA and the only possible candidate was the £200 SO to NWide RS that went out earlier today. All other SOs to Nwide RS in the past have gone in OK, but this was the 13th payment. Nothing in the T&Cs to suggest a £2400 limit, so I phoned Nwide to try to confirm it bounced back from them. I have to say they were almost as useful as a chocolate teapot, except they agreed that it should have been possible to do the 13th payment and blamed Lloyds! In the end I decided to try a manual payment from my Lloyds CA at lunchtime and it is still there in the RS after 5pm. Just another odd blip?
I wonder if banks have been processing September SOs a tad before midnight (i.e. date stamped 31st Aug)? Unlikely, I suppose, but it could explain the blip?

It's an issue with Nationwide's systems. I have had it several times sending standing orders to them from Santander including today.
I agree that Nationwide were useless in my experience as well though. While falsely suggesting Santander sent the SO too early (not true), one memorable excuse included that they must be working/making payments on Spanish time/in Spain!
I previously had several RS payments for £200 so it wasn't straightforward identifying which one had failed.

Virgin RS Issue 7
For anyone still experiencing the error message, try (if you haven't already) applying via a 'private window' via your browser. I did this after failing a few times using a normal browser, and it worked.1 -
yes I would add September, and I would be prepared to face the consequences if they told me off.
But don't necessarily do what I would be doing because Santander would unlikely take into account that someone on the Internet said they would do what you did 😉1 -
Really? Spoilsports, haha!

Virgin Money
Despite being a customer for many years, I have to upload ID to open the new RS. My previous one matured on 28/8/26.
I think the whole website is having issues, as despite uploading the docs to the required links at least three times, no "continue" or "next" button appeared.
James on the help chat was worse than useless, so will have to give them a call in the morning … although I have no idea what my phone pin number is either

My funds from Darlington did arrive today (Tuesday), sometime after 4pm.
