Suffolk building society RS 5% (30.09.2026) 13th payment?
Hello. I opened this account on July 28th last year, but it doesn't mature until 30th Sept. So, can l add an additional £250?
I didn't fund the account for five of the months during the 14-month term .

Yes, you can add an additional £250 even if you funded this account every month. There's no maximum balance.

Hanley Economic BS Secure Message
Yesterday I received an email from HEBS which is a link to a secure message. It's notification of my 1 Year Online Smart Saver maturing in 2 months and notifying of what will happen and options.
The key paragraphs are :
"Fixed Term Savings/Smart Saver Accounts
If your account is a Fixed Term Savings/Smart Saver Account, it will automatically mature into an Instant Access Savings Account in accordance with the account terms and conditions. Details of this account are available on our website.
If you would prefer to close your account when it matures, please log in to your online account and send us a secure message with your instruction. We will then transfer the funds to your nominated bank account.
Do I Need to Take Any Action
We will contact you again 14 days before the maturity date but if you have any questions about your account, please do not hesitate to call us on 01782 255000, email us at savingsservices@thehanley.co.uk or if you are registered for online banking you can send us a secure message. You can find our opening hours on our website, thehanley.co.uk."
I may have been late to this one, so maybe this is all common knowledge.

Stafford (Railway) BS RS I1
No longer good at 4.15%A, and there is a requirement to make monthly deposits of at least £25. I think the terms and conditions state that three consecutive months of missed payments will result in closure and transfer to a Pullman easy access account. Well my last deposit was at the beginning of December 25 and it has just been closed and transferred to a Pullman. So just over 9 consecutive months of missed payments in practice. Now I haven't been sent a passbook for this account, I can hopefully get the money out…

You should've got a passbook for the RS, if not it may be pestering them for it. I closed mine ages ago as part of a wider cull of accounts, sent the passbook in with a cancelled cheque from my nominated account and they sent the closing balance by faster payment soon after.

Thanks. I did receive a passbook but can't find it and their process for a replacement is somewhat onerous. They, with me anyway, were quite steadfast in requiring a passbook for withdrawal or closure, which is why I've been hoping they would keep to the three months on account closure.

Technically the account isn't closed, it's just converted to a Pullman account (it keeps the same account details). I got my letter yesterday advising me!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
You're right. Damn, I may still have the passbook issue.

And meanwhile it'll be earning the (lower) Pullman account interest rate instead of the SRBS RS rate.

There's not that much in there. But yes more motivation to do something about it…
