You are right, quite a few people have all three of the 8% ones, or one each at Halifax and BoS plus one or two Lloyds from the pre-8% issues. All applied for through the respective apps/online.

My guess is they will still let you have the Lloyds RS, as you don't yet have a 'proper' Lloyds RS. In which case, go for it. If not, I'm afraid, you have missed the boat. Interesting to see what will happen.

It just says ‘Regular Saver’ but with a Halifax logo next to it. Also Halifax Sort Code 11-64-69 and Lloyds one will be their branding. May as well give it a go…….whats the worst that can happen?

  • Yes, you are. You might be using the Lloyds app to access your Halifax accounts, but they are still Halifax accounts.

    MonBS

So I have a MonBS Branch Exclusive RS which matures on Saturday 29 August.

I assume if I let it mature normally, I won't receive any funds until Tuesday 1 September given weekends/bank holidays.

If so, does one receive the Easy Saver interest rate (the default maturity option) during this period and it would be worth manually closing the account on the 28 August instead?

The only issue with it would potentially be that until the Halifax account is rebranded to a Lloyds current account, you don't have the specified current account.

Re the comments on p.489 on the MonBS's Branch RS, my letter from them gives a fourth option on maturity - if we don't receive instructions, your balance will be transferred to our Easy Saver at 1.10%, which will provide you with instant access to the funds.

The online account also gives two options for an electronic transfer of matured funds from the Branch RS - either to another MonBS account, or to your nominated external account. You can set up the date and amount in advance and end with your password. Perhaps this only works if you set up the nominated account at the beginning, but there seems to be no requirement for copies of bank statements.

my MonBS Branch Exclusive RS matures on the same day, and I have just received the maturity letter in the post - it includes a URL to enter (with a unique security code to me) if you want to re-invest in another MonBS account online.

there is also the option to return your choice by post (in a prepaid envelope supplied).

if you do nothing before the 29th, then the balance is transferred to the EA account… although I think in reality, based on the RS8 maturing experience, you keep the same account number and they just change the account name and interest rate… so if the same thing occurs with this, then you should be earning interest from the maturity date (not that it really matters as the interest amount would be trivial).

if you choose "Close", then you can either send the full amount to another MonBS account, or they will send you a cheque in the post of the full balance.

perhaps making a withdrawal before maturity (if allowed) rather than closing, might be an option?

What current account ? There is no current account requirement for the Lloyds RS - MrsM opened the Club and only has a BOS current account.

    As per the product page:

You can open this account if you:

    • have a Lloyds current account

    That's the official line, anyway.
