Applied about dinner time, just had a secure message inviting me to fund the account, account details in the welcome letter. Account isn't showing yet in online banking but hopefully that'll sort itself out in the next day or so.

I got an email from ESBS telling me I've got a new secure message, all in all rather quick considering, I suspect they may slow down a bit soon though as the applications come in.

It says on the letter I've 14 days to fund it.

I asked zopa why payments from zopa to ecology were declined, they claimed ecology were declining (ecology said they weren't) it also said other companies aren't aware of their sort code because they are a new bank. Soundwd it like a load of AI bullsh1t from the bot.

Seems like a zopa problem.

Zopa still can't set up payee that require a reference to get a cop match. I thought it was a requirement to support as part of faster payments.

Ecology said that Zopa is recognised by them, so no idea what the problem is at Zopa's end, especially as I Ecology verified by Zopa. I vaguely remember I had a problem with money being returned/declined at Zopa end a while back, but I can't remember who I was trying to send money to now.

Zopa did a name match on ecology and appeared to sent but when went back to transactions it was shown as declined and details said payment returned to your account.

Yes, agree, does seem like a Zopa problem. I won't bother to chat with them about it, as no doubt would get the same response. Definitely a bit of hogwash about Ecology being a new bank, they are a building society and established in 1981. I think I will steer clear of using Zopa as a nominated account for anything in the future.

I am new to ESBS but have already now received my account number, have got a CoP match from Santander, and sent my first deposit.

It wasn't possible yet to ask them to activate the linked account; presumably it needs an overnight account update first. Will check back tomorrow, when I check that my deposit has indeed be credited.
