It was the instructions that came up at the end of opening the account. I took a screen grab on my mobile phone. The new account details were above this section of the screen grab.

It wouldn’t be the first time a BS has given out incorrect information as to what is required for a COP match. I’ve also been told to use first and middle initial recently. Simply try all combinations until one gives a match and feed back to the BS about any incorrect information if you wish.

    ECOLOGY COP

I called Ecology today and explained BoS couldn't verify COP. Very nice lady said that they were aware of the issue with Lloyd's banking group. Caused by Ecology changing the bank they used, all other banks have changed the details, they thought Lloyds issue was resolved, but obviously not. She had no idea why Zopa payment failed, but funds hadn't been received and declined by Ecology, I'd have to find out from Zopa. I asked if I could have Chase as my nominated account, she did this for me and said I'd receive a confirmation email and text when this had been completed. Both received a short time later and account now funded. Don't think I will bother with contacting Zopa for an explanation, just happy that I'm all sorted now.

How did you open it as an existing customer? It prompts me to login, I do and it the just shows my existing ESBS account and no obvious button to apply without logging out

Thanks. I think the issue I was having was that the phone screen is too small for the full page so I had to move across the screen after clicking Products to see the appropriate content. New account not showing yet for me or my wife and no email acknowledgement. Interesting how the building societies seem to be behaving in a rather sheep like way with these new products.

I had all manner of problems trying to get Zopa set up as my nominated account for direct debits by Vanguard who couldn't seem to recognise them as a bank with a UK License. It was sorted eventually. That was about 18 months ago, I wonder if there are still issues.
