Exactly! Ecology is a very small BS so the target sum is likely to be small too. I doubt this RS will be available for very long.

I am also on the list waiting for an email from Ecology incase they want ID - what might that be if they do? Would they accept a scan of your passport and/or driving license emailed to them ….

No idea why - with your address they can instantly check the electoral roll …

Originals or certified copies if they stick rigidly to the document published on their website. If they decide they'll accept something by email, who knows.

Ecology may only be a small BS, but their application procedure is way better than most, and deposits and withdrawals are immediate, which most BS’s can’t achieve. Why can’t most savings accounts be this efficient to operate.

Also thumbs up to Ecology for making their T&Cs clear to understand and no grey areas as far as I can see. It's as if they have read this forum and answered all our usual questions (13th payments, maximum balance, etc.)

Also worth noting that the maturity date is 12 months from the date of the first deposit, not the date of opening. There's only a 14 day funding window though.

Ecology BS - application issues for previous members

Did you renew your online access when they changed systems, around Dec/Jan IIRC?

It's possible this is causing the issue where their system recognises you as an existing customer but can't identify an online account profile to assign your new account to. Presumably requires a member of staff to intervene and push it through.

What a pleasant experience opening the new RS was.

Everything was instant including deposits. Even COP was instant.

There are not many Building Societies (if any) that could not learn something from the Ecology system.

The only concern I have is the 2 minute timeout on verification codes. Texts occasionally take longer than they should which is going to lead to timeouts where the standard 5 minutes would be sufficient. Plus as someone who likes to check the entered code before submitting, 2 minutes makes me feel panicked!
